I know this question has been asked 1,00,000 times. I searched and contacted a few of the places that have been mentioned in previous post. Im getting a lot of there's a shortage or we are out. I looking for a 45-55 lbs pig to pick up November 7. Any help will be greatly appreciated.

I literally called rouchers yesterday and had one reserved for Bama game. The lady who answered said it was no problem. Got around a 40lb pig

Try Junior's Meat Market in French Settlement, (225) 698-0871. I saw a sign for pigs recently.

Roucher's, Scallan's or Maxwell's should all be able to hook you up.

Thanks for the help. Im going to call a few of them during lunch and give an update. I tried Scallans and they did not have any as of yesterday. They did say they get some in every Friday but did not give me an option of reserving one.

Rouchers is $2.59 lb dressed. They are fresh. Scallans and most others are frozen.

Tell them you want the head and the trotters. Make head cheese with them.

They have never had a shortage since I've bought from them and I've probably bought 30 or so from them. The $2.59 lb is the highest I've paid with them. Still cheap.

I got 3 quotes.
A. $2.59/lb
B. $3.19/lb
C. $4.99/lb

C. gave me the first price which I thought was high, so I decided to check around. A. can't promise they will have a pig by the desired date, so B. is where we are. Probably a bit higher than I'd like but the pig is fresh and probably walking the earth today. Thanks for all the input from everyone.

Roucher's is the only place I've consistently found fresh pigs around BR. Never had a problem with a few days lead time.
