The life of an LSU fan with Miles as our coach...Beckwith is an absolute sledgehammer. Playing Welter for so long is almost as bad as playing JJ for 3 years.
Beckwith was converted to MLB this offseason. Believe it or not, as talented as our guys are, they do actually need time to learn positions and techniques mentally.

Kwon, Mills and Collins will be leaving
I know we have talent behind these guys, but if these three along with Hunter stay... :fap:

Beckwith was a multi-year ironman at mike in hs
Chief movedBeckwith AND Jones out last year so his buddy could play
Miles calls chief out on beckwith not playing yet.
Poof, magic. He starts the next game and has dominated.

You obviously didn't watch KB earlier in the yr. He was in the two deep. It wasn't "poof" he plays and dominates. He was as slow to his reads as welter. Now that he has progressed at one of the tougher positions to learn (took minter two full years who is on an nfl roster) he is not thinking as much as he is instinctivley reacting. tbh I thought he wouldn't be dominant untill 2015 season but the light has come on for KB much sooner. Imo

Save that sad story for someone else, I was one of if not the first guy to bring heat to the mike spot last year.
I just shut up about it this year because I had nothing left to say. Now that I see an increase in the argument that he wasn't ready, I have to respond.
Think maybe moving him to de where he almost never saw the field helped him develop? Nope bad move chief.
Think having welter take ALL first string reps this spring and fall helped him develop? Nope bad move chief.
Think waiting until miles publically blasted chief for NOT starting beckwith was the right time to actually play the guy? It was a few games too late.
I love chavis as our dc, but this has been his worst personnel move at LSU.

last year was a wash because they couldn't decide what position to play him. It was obvious welter wasn't the long term answer there so really he should have been playing mike all last year.
We go into the spring once again knowing welter isn't the guy and never will be. Yet the coaches feed us a ton of bullshite about welter looking so much better and primed for a big year. Fast forward to opening night and he's the same player he was last year. Beckwith should have received the majority of the reps in the spring, fall, and the early part of the schedule. The lights come on by gaining experience. Sure welter knew where to go, but being in position doesn't really mean a damn thing if you can't make the play.

Yes, and I was right there with you and many others.
Couldn't find a guy who coaches this sport for a living that would allow that level of play from that important of a position.
It really is indefensible.
It led me to believe that Chavis was retiring, and when that didn't happen my mind has wandered into all kinds of crazy conspiracy theories. Lol
Unless Beckwith said, "Coach, I don't want to play, I'm not ready," there's no excuse. And I'll even take it one step further and ask why would you take a slower player who couldn't man b/w the hash marks and put him on special teams, where he is asked to make open field tackles or block in open space?
Last year we played our starting MLB on 4th and 9 and 4th and 27 plays vs FL, and had him 25 yards downfield in coverage. Think about that for awhile and remember the secondary personnel we have too. Lol

Fast fwd to next year and substitute AJ10 and BH6 into that statement...let's see what happens when that shoe is on the OC's & HC's plate...
