if he doesn't make the playoffs this season.

From what I saw last night this team has the talent to make that jump into the playoffs "this season". Seems like all that is lacking is a reliable bench This team will be scary good this year if the bench can develop. I was even impressed with the play of Eric Gordon. He looks more explosive and quicker than he ever has been since joining New Orleans.

True...Demps bought the ingredients, now it's up for the chef to cook the gumbo. Too talented of a team not to make the playoffs, and if we don't then Monty needs to go.

Monty's rotations last night were 100% what I was hoping for coming into this season. Starting Tyreke at the 3 was an option he wouldn't have even entertained last year. The way he's deploying Davis on defense shows he learned a bit from Team USA and seems to really know what he wanted to do with a legit big like Asik.

If I continue to see coaching like I saw last night, I am 100% fine with Williams as the coach if Davis and him have a good rapport.

For the record, last season I was completely over it. He said he learned quite a bit from the Team USA camp this year, which garnered a "believe it when I see it" in my head. I saw legit growth from Monty last night.

Pump the breaks. While there is a lot to be optimistic about, remember who we were playing... The Magic.

Absolutely. And I'm not expecting conference finals or anything, but better than first round, 8 seed sweep fodder.

It's time.

False, the team could win 10-12 more games than they did last year and still miss the playoffs. I think any Pels fan should be very happy with say a 46-36 season and I don't think there's any way Williams gets fired if the team wins that many games.

I like Monty.

I really like Monty- and have defended him often.

But I agree- no playoffs this year, time to move on.

No more excuses.

I might also want to warn you that you shouldn't be making judgments based off a game against maybe the 2nd worst team in the whole nba.

Why is "this season" in quotes? Do you mean not this season?

who is "we"? I can't be sure but I can almost guarantee that the only person you speak for is yourself.

Ya, someone needs to tell Monty that the only way he gets out of this season alive is if he can get Dell to flip Ajenca + AR for another wing. Which means he actually needs to play Ajenca to get his trade value up. If we don't get a decent bench wing, I don't think we can make the playoffs. Sucks to say that. But last night, as good as it was, didn't change my mind a bit.

It's not about who we're playing. Better execution by the players is a 30-35 point win.

I'm not going by who we're playing, I'm going by the offensive/defensive sets and rotations I saw last night.

Decisions We Haven't Seen in the Past
- Tyreke as the 3 despite Monty saying after the season Tyreke is not a 3.
- Tyreke acting in the Pippen Point Forward role.
- Less hard hedging, more trust in the perimeter defense.
- Playing Davis 10-15 feet from the basket instead of asking him to jump out to the perimeter.
- At least 1 starter on the floor with the bench, sometimes 2 if he puts in Tyreke/Gordon with Rivers/Fredette.
- Essentially the starting 5 playing between 30-36 minutes if Jrue hadn't gotten scratched in the face.
- 22 shots from AD in the 1st game of the season, which ties his season high from last year.

Look, my post history shows I was ready to Fire Monty at the beginning of last year, and if I had better energy in a losing season, I was going to have a custom #FireMonty T-shirt made. I still have the saved docs on the design I laid out.

Last night's Monty looked different from last season's Monty.

I actually agree with Boom here. Phoenix won 48 games last year and missed the playoffs. It depends on how the year flows.

If we finish below .500 or if we're sitting solidly at the 7 or 8 seed and miss because of a late season collapse, he gone.

I agree. Thought he left Jimmer out their way too long but no other complaints. Jimmer was clearly really frustrated and had lost his confidence and Monty just kept him out there. Poor guy was drowning and need some time to refocus.
