I can't post the breakdown pics b/c they're interactive.
However, this article proves that this wasn't an expansion of health insurance. The ACA was just a disguised way to expand Medicaid.
If you look at the maps, you will see there is a divide in increased "coverage" based on states that expanded Medicaid.
Also, only 10M new people signed up. A few million lost coverage. So if this program was aiming at insuring 30M+ people, it's been an expensive failure. The ACA is just terrible. It's not expanding insurance coverage, and instead it is expanding possibly the worst government program (Medicaid).
There are a lot of graphs showing different rates and changes by race, gender, urban/rural, etc.

The Affordable Care Act was passed in 2010, but the law’s biggest insurance expansion provisions went into effect in January, when millions more people qualified for state Medicaid programs, and new subsidized insurance plans sold in state marketplaces kicked in.

That state boundaries are so prominent in the map attests to the power of state policy in shaping health insurance conditions. The most important factor in predicting whether an American who had no insurance in 2013 signed up this year was whether the state that person lives in expanded its Medicaid program in 2014. (Just consider the contrast between Kentucky, which expanded Medicaid, and Tennessee, which did not.)
In 2012, the Supreme Court gave states the right to opt out of the expansion. In all, 26 states and the District of Columbia expanded Medicaid programs this year, and at least one more state — Pennsylvania — will expand next year. Predominantly, the states that expanded had Democratic political leadership, while those that declined were governed by Republicans, but there were exceptions in both directions.

Without reading anything but the title, I'm going to say "Insurance Companies".

Yep, the same ones that poured money into Barry's campaign.

Is this something the NYSlimes is just figuring out. It's pretty obvious the "helping bring coverage" was about expanding Medicaid

This all day.
They were the absolute only winners in this, along with those who were uninsurable.
Wouldn't you like own a business that the gov't mandated citizens to purchase?

Are they going to have a followup article and tell us who "lost"?

I'm not sure why anyone on the left or right would think the ACA is a good thing.
They forced middle class America to purchase services for people that refuse to take care of their own needs.

pretty sure if we were all honest, the vast majority of americans would admit that the ACA is terrible
liberals should detest this law for helping big business, not going far enough, and being ineffective (many have, to be fair)
we all know why vast groupings of conservatives do not like the ACA (more government, mandated purchasing of goods, taxing producers, etc)

Exactly. It's not like it's a free market either. Now the gov't gets to dictate who can sell this product and what products they can sell. It's the biggest monopoly(con) I've ever seen.
