just finished season 1 and im now at the point where im clammoring for the next episode right after the last one ends.

i dont know what it is, its a slow burner, and its not really the plot that keeps me going but i hust cant get enough.

i think the moment it got me was weirdly enough when Drapers wife started shooting the neighbors birds, something about that scene hooked me

plus, the girls in this show are second to none. i mean jeeez, Hendrix, Brie, Jones...who knew every girl from the 60s was an OT10

this is one of those shows ive passed on netflix a billion times, knowing im going to like it but dont want to commit to it, and im glad i finally did.

Took me 3 tries before I could finally get into it. Once I did, I powered through it in a few weeks. It is one of my favorites.

Enjoy the ride. I willl be bummed when it is over.

Also Pete Campbell is awesome.

yeah, slow burn for sure. It took most of S1 to hook me, but it's a great show for sure

Hahah. You are correct. I hated him at first. Some reason he really grew on me and became my favorite.

Not sure how you could get hooked on mad men. I watched every season and couldnt make it through the last five episodes of the last season. Show is a little too boring for my tastes.

half the people I've talked to say MM is one of their favorite shows and is a MUST WATCH, the others say it's just soooooo booriiiiiiiing and slow it's not worth it. I have no idea if I should watch or not.

Is it similar to true detective? I really liked TD, because I was wrapped up in teh story. But TD was certainly slow.

plot wise those two are nothing alike.

but they are both very character driven shows.

Nothing like true detective

Ill say this, mad men is one of the best shows on cable television which isnt really saying thT much.

Its the best tv show without violence or nudity

yeah I know that...I meant as far as pace and just overall "feel" of the show.

TD isn't even remotely "fast paced", but I still very much enjoyed it. People say MM is indredibly slow, so I was just curious if you still get wrapped up in it or it just kinda drags along.

Literally everyone in the show except, maybe, Cooper, is a piece of shite in some way. And unlike Breaking Bad, which is a spiraling down of a character that you once rooted for, Mad Men is plodding story about the drama that goes on between assholes and counts.

And yet, somehow, it is enjoyable, though I cannot watch more than maybe 2 episodes at a time. The characters just make me want to kangaroo kick them all out of windows.

You're really going to enjoy a Duck Phillips moment when you get there. It's one of those scenes that just slays you,

When I was watching Mad Men, I was having 8 episode nights.

I love all of the characters, even though they are dicks.

The characters are definitely flawed in many ways, but they are absolutely realistic which is what makes Mad Men so relatable. That says something about our society.
