So first official offer letter has come in and it has a week deadline. Was expecting more time, still have 2-3 more interviews and offers to come in. My other two offers were more informal and they were okay with me taking time to evaluate other offers.

Would it be unwise to call the recruiter and see if I could have a little more time? I wouldn't think there would be but is there any possible repercussions if I accept it and go back and turn it down later?

Just ask for additional time. They may be looking to fill slots/hire right away, but that should have been communicated. When I was interviewing, I told both parties and it accelerated the 2nd offer as well.

Otherwise, you can certainly accept the offer and go back on it. You'll burn bridges and it's not professional/good taste/etc. But it's your life, do what's best for you. You may have to pay back any signing bonus or anything else you receive.

Yea I would feel shitty for going back on it and there is a clause about paying back the bonus if you quit.

The bad thing is that its for a large competitive company so he is prob going to say they will have to offer it to another person.

Are you right out of school? If you like the company and the offer, accept on the final day. See if you can accelerate other offers.

You won't get the bonus until you start anyway. There is no reason, aside from possibly burning a bridge, that you can't go back on the offer.

Ask for more time- if still not enough time, accept or decline based on the offer. If you think it's the only one you'll get, take it and then you can decline later if you get a better offer. This isn't the best practice to use, and it is a little shitty, but that's the age we are in, and companies are used to it.

FYI, I had some competing offers this spring. One have me a week notice, I asked for a few days extension, then they offered additional money, then I turned it down, and they said to call back if I change my mind. So that answers several of your questions in one.

I am a little nervous about asking for more time, this guy is a little peculiar and I have a feeling he would pull the offer. I am going to email the other one that I am most interested in tonight. Should I just come out and say that I have other offers and am under a timeline?

TIA

These are for big blue and big red so there is no shortage of people to fill the positions.

I still don't get "big blue" and "big red", but I'm downstream.

Yes, feel free to tell them. If they spent time interviewing you and made an offer, chances are they want you. Contrary to belief, there's not a ton of QUALIFIED candidates. Extending the time 1-2 weeks isn't a huge deal. Especially when they know the alternative is you accepting and then backing out.

You still have that as backup plan.

No its not, I sent my resume to my buddy over there but havent heard back, I brought it up to the SLB guy and he said they werent hiring but hoping my buddy can pull some strings. MWD is my first choice if I can get it. I was hopeful with HB bc I am pretty sure that Sperry is hiring but talked to a buddy today who said that they are picky on who they hire "only PETE &ME" unless you know someone so hoping he is wrong about that.

He also told me that BHI blows them both out of the water with starting pay, anyone heard that? I applied with them but didnt pursue them to hard. I was under the impression they all three are similar in starting pay.

A buddy of mine got a job out of college as a field engineer a couple of years ago and said he started at $75k with Halliburton. He also worked ridiculous hours. He majored in petroleum engineering. I think hes doing very well for himself now and he graduated only a couple of years ago.

BHI isn't blowing anyone out of the water on any pay, starting or otherwise. From what I've always understood is that Schlum pays the best for the big companies but you have to put up with the most BS. BHI and Sperry pay about the same and will treat you slightly better than Schlum. Schulman's training is supposed to be awesome though.
