My roommates and I had this discussion a few months back and we were trying to decide which of the following holidays has the best seasonal candy (i.e. is candy that is specific to that particular holiday) (e.g. Peeps for Easter, candy corn for Halloween, etc.): Halloween, Christmas, Valentine's Day, and Easter.

I would rank them as:
1. Christmas
2. Easter
3. Halloween
4. Valentine's Day (frick those boxes of assorted chocolates)

Christmas is definitely #1.

The Little Debbie Christmas Tree cakes would take this all on their own, but throw in all of the varieties of Christmas Cookies, and other candies, and the whole holiday eating season, and this is a no-brainer.

Easter would be way down the list. Yeah they have the Cadbury eggs, but they're finally wising up and making those for other holidays, like the Screme eggs at Halloween, so it isn't specific to Easter anymore. Same with Peeps. They toss out a new one every holiday. Trees and snowmen at Christmas, and any other time of the year, you can get Peeps. And I absolutely love Peeps, and all things marshmallow. But Easter is a bunch of bunny shaped chocolates and egg shaped candy.

Halloween just for the sheer volume of things is ahead of Easter and Halloween. Candy Corn Pumpkins is a close second to Little Debbie Christmas Tree cakes.

Valentine's Day just sucks. All of the "good" chocolates that my wife likes are like $17 for a box of 12. All because it is in a heart shaped box. And outside of chocolate there's not much else. Maybe the little heart shaped sweettarts that the kids pass out in class. I'm always up for a box of those.

Easter is in a league of its own, followed by Halloween and Christmas. The assorted boxes of chocolate for Valentine's day are usually 85% shite.

But there is something about the egg that's better.

That was the first thing I brought up in the conversation with my roommates.

My ranking didn't have as much to do with the quality of Easter candy as much as it did my distaste for Halloween and Valentine's Day treats.

But how much of that is specific to Halloween?

I think this goes without saying.

whoever invented the chocolates with the orange flavored goop inside should be publicly castrated and burned at the stake

That oval shape is so conducive for the perfect distribution of peanut butter and chocolate.

That's gotta be it, or maybe it's because the trees and pumpkins or small compared to the egg.

It's just a zebra cake shaped differently, but the reese's egg has a different ratio of peanut butter to chocolate making it unique to the holiday edition candy and superior to all other forms of reese's

People have looked at my like I was crazy when I said this. I can't explain it. I don't know what it is. They should be exactly the same, but for some reason I prefer the Reese's Eggs over all other candy. Not Reese's cups, trees, pumpkins....has to be egg
