I went to the range today and shot about 100 rounds out of my AR, .243, .270, and .264. I shot off my range bag and I need a different setup as I'm not using a rear rest. My groups were good but I want to see what my rifles will truly do with a good rest.

Get a rear bag.

IMO, lead sleds suck.

I use a bipod(atlas) and a sock filled with plastic bbs.

When working up loads, I shoot off a short bipod at the front and a sand bad at the rear. That works especially well w/ my prairie dog handguns as that's the same set up I use in the field. For my deer hunting handguns, once I've developed a load, I sight it in shooting off my back pack in the front and a sand bag in the rear since I don't use a bipod in the field on deer hunts. My deer hunting handguns hit different shooting w/ a bipod up front compared to sand bag/back pack.

I use the Primos Group Therapy rest. It is like the Lead Sled but it can be taken apart and you can use only the front as a rest if you would like. I have no complaints about it. Works great.
