One would think republicans without a race would be out helping Cassidy but I haven't seen them.

I was actually talking to one recently and he pointed out to me how "good" Landrieu had been to his department. Good, in the eyes of a bureaucrat, being bringing federal pork to the department.

Two party system in Louisiana?? Nope--simply labels elected bureaucrats and career politicians use as a strategy to get a big enough block of votes to get elected.

Bitter about the changes in the republican party over the last 20 years?? Perhaps so. What's wrong with that??

You must be content with these big government proponents consolidating power and burdening citizens with taxes and regulation with little purpose.

How about Russian---you going to defend these buys for staying on the sidelines in the Senate race??

Do you think it is "good" for citizens that Mary has helped these guys obtain funding for their departments??

These career politicians are worried about their budgets and their campaigns and have forgotten about the burdens on citizens such attitudes contribute too.

Have you ever heard any of them say "we can close my department" or "we can cut our spending 50% to help taxpayers if the legs would do this?"

If I am what you call bitter then we need a hell of lot more bitter people.

We need a state filled with people that expect prudent, conservative, small government. Bringing home pork or funding special interest should not be the measure of a "good" politician.

So you're saying Bill won't bring home the bacon, which is the exact opposite you've criticized him for?

Nope--I am saying Bill can't get the help he should expect from republicans because they love the bacon Mary brought them.

What should be happening is that we should have a republican party in the state that will put forth real small government candidates AND will work to support them.

Look at the crap we have--Jindal nor Vitter will work for the candidate because they might hurt him. None of the other statewide elected republicans are out there working for the candidate perhaps out of gratitude to Mary for bringing bacon--perhaps out of fear of the big money people like Bollinger.

I get what seems like a hundred emails inviting me to fund raisers for republicans. Only one elected person has sent me one for Cassidy--Steve Scalise. Not even a state representative or senator has organized one that I have seen. What a mess.

Vitter has been stumping for Cassidy. Not only has he made appearances with Cassidy, he's bee pushing social media for him. Pay attention.

State Speaker of the House Chuck Kleckley has also endorsed and made an appearance for him.

Are you serious?? Have you looked at the number of tariffs imposed during the Bush years? Have you forgotten "homeland security"? Have you forgotten the prescription drug bill? the 2007 farm bill? the massive addition to food stamps rolls under Bush? SCHIP? NSA's intrusion into our lives? TSA? no child left behind? Regulations and special interest accommodations were all through those massive expansions of government.

I like Strain but most people under estimate the influence the commissioner has. He has the second most powerful position in state government. Second only to the governor. His reach is huge. Almost every business in the state has to do business with him in one way or another.

He can do huge things for a statewide candidate.

That is true of late.

He sent out an email today encouraging people to vote and saying Landrieu is really getting the vote out.

Yep. Once again you prove how you hope Mary loses. Why try and disguise it? Just say you support her.

I hope Mary gets beat but it is obvious many republicans--some people like you trust--do not share my view.

Of course a guy like you that supports taking money from the state and giving it to special interest like film makers is certainly no small government, freedom minded individual . You are a typical Jindal republican or a democrat --it's hard to tell. Not much difference.

You aren't fooling anyone. A short look at your thread titles is easy to do. I notice you needed to resort to generalization to attempt to insult me. A sure fire way to know the debate is done.

Just admit you want her to win. I don't understand the reluctance.

It's possible he might win more than that in the runoff. But I'm starting to think there's a possibility he might win the general election by a point or two...
