Let's hope the evening session ends up better than the morning session which involved no deer and a puddle of tears.

Doe down

hit her high but she dropped and had to slice the throat. Never fun but necessary. She has expired

Not sure why I shot high, she was at 25 steps and used the 20 yarder

Good job B&B

Just got in another stand with my 10 year old for our PM hunt. It's his turn to shoot. I'm just drinking beer watching.

Sun just went behind trees. Feels a lot better. Just had a doe come out about 175 yards down pipeline. It was headed towards where my little cousin is hunting so I let her walk. Plus it's too early in the season to try that range.

I've heard several shots in the last five minutes. My Dad was one of them. He can't stand it when I kill something and he doesn't. It seems as if we always double up when we hunt and one of us kills.

Hopefully he laid it down. Not much shooting here. My Dad is offshore right now....he's been texting me every 5 minutes for an update. Hate hunting without him.

That weenie dog will blow your mind with her tracking ability.

I used to have one that would track deer, kill snakes & jump on any critter she came across no matter how big or small. They are great dogs and very protective of they're owners.
quote:

She used to tear their ears apart when she found them. We've got her eating the tail and ripping out azzholes. Better for those trophy deer.

I've got a beagle & a beagle/weenie dog now that I'm gonna make them a vest like yours

Lil-Bit will go after anything. Armadillos, rabbits, squirrels.. But she loves deer blood. She snorts like a pig when she's on blood. It takes her a few minutes to put a deer's scent with its blood when there's been multiple deer in the area. But once she does all her "cross checks" she is off to the races. Like I said, it'll blow your mind. The dacshund breed was called "tunnel rats" for sniffing out tunnels. They have a serious nose. And are so small/short they can go under and through heavy brush without getting torn up.

That vest is made by Remington I believe. It's got reflective strips on it as well. We have a collar with red blinking LEDs that we put on her for night tracking. She looks like a little alien in the woods.
