Exactly. Who are they? How would you know if they toil in anonymity?

But heres three great bands that are huge outside of the US but largely unsupported here, BY COMPARISON. Each would have been MEGA-BANDS pre-1990 when we decided to wage war on Rock and Roll and the album format:

LINK Alter Bridge
LINKMonster Truck

LINKRival Sons

We are discussing THE AUDIENCE. Not the origin of the band.

America does not support the old school rock touring bands or the metal bands like Europe does, that's just a fact. Now you may not like the old school bands like Rival Sons/Monster Truck or metal bands like Alter Bridge, but that doesn't change the fact that these guys bread and butter is Europe. While America sticks with rap, country and pop.

Alter Bridge is a top 5 band in that genre world-wide and sell out huge venues all over Europe. Myles Kennedy is one of the best front men in the world (according to Slash, Jimmy Page, John Paul Jones, etc) and Mark Tremonti is considered one of the best technical/metal/melodic guitar players by his peers.

Look, I was raised on The Beatles, ELO, Todd Rungren, Ten CC, Queen etc. But if you don't appreciate these bands because you don't like the genre, your loss. It's like discounting Johnny Cash with a "country sucks"comment or The Allman Brothers with a "rednecks" comment. Just because YOU don't get it, doesn't magically invalidate it's brilliance.

There are all kinds of heavy bands that sell out all over Europe

that doesnt mean fricking alter bridge is a great band they were popular when people liked shitty rock music. they are nothing more than dad metal essentially

I have very broad musical taste. I can appreciate virtually every kind of music, save for some of the nu metal and crunkcore style acts

Alter Bridge is a GREAT band, bro. In fact, I'd say the best live show I have seen in five years is Alter Bridge. Absolutely fantastic. Better than the Warren Haynes , Jack White, Gary Clark Jr., although those are generally more my speed, etc.

The songs are great (never a Creed fan) and the musicianship is stellar. To each his own bro.

Absolutely. I think that's the point. You have to be an audiophile and you have to really pursue it. You have to travel to faraway venues. But the bands themselves are largely UNSUPPORTED in the US. All these great bands are comparatively starving. Until they go to Europe. Then they can sell out massive shows in Scandinavia, Eastern Europe etc. That's where the rock and roll vitality is. It used to be here.

It's the same as its always been. People don't 'believe' in an artist or band unless they hear them on the radio.

See I never liked generic wannabe heavy music . I just liked quality music, of every genre, and just stayed that way. Thus I can see Frampton, Jack White, Amos Lee, Allison Krause, and Alter Bridge in the same year and essentially enjoy them all equally. *not a hater

It's the Creed backlash . People hate them reflexively without giving it a spin. We all do that with one band or another.

And Kafka-Monster Truck is so perfectly 1974 Grand Funk Railroadish that if you love that 1971-1976 rock era, you will love them. They just play hard and have fun. Love those Canucks. But go ahead and just make contrarian asides....(do you do anything else). Affirm something motha*****....
