The bat signal must have gone up. It's the Bush/Cheney/miles apologist.

I'm still waiting for a link from Bush or Cheney confirming theses "facts". Seems that if true they'd be trumpeting this to defend their legacy. But instead... Crickets. In fact, the last time I remembered Bush even mentioning WMD was when he did that comedy video for the WH correspondents dinner where he looked all over the White House, under chars and tables for the WMD.

I was under the impression that everyone already knew Saddam had Chem weapons. Hell his gas campaign against the Kurds drew worldwide condemnation. It seems pretty weak to try to justify the war all these years later by pointing out something already known, as if Bush sold the war on Chem weapons alone. I seem to remember the warmongers using a different word to drum up fear at home - nuclear. Or dubious links to Al Qaeda.

So on the eve of invasion, when the entire world knew what was about to happen, Saddam sent his weapons of mass destruction to another country? You think he thought once we invaded and found none we'd just tell him "never mind" and let him go about his business?

The UN inspectors were trying to inspect his facilities for 2 years. Him booting them out the last time is what triggered the war.

Did those mobile trucks become immobile when we went looking for them?

Wow, are you really that fricking stupid that you don't know the difference between chlorine for a pool, and chlorine used as a weapon?
Well don't just sit there behind your computer. Go ahead and school me on the differences. I can't wait.

Am I the only one that thinks a great deal of Saddam's chemical weapons were moved to Syria after he knew we were coming after him?

It's highly plausible that these were later re-captured by the ISIS thugs in Syria to play around with later.

You're not alone and you are correct.

Exactly, a violation of the ceasefire and thus a justification for war. Did Bush/Cheney oversell it maybe but that is what politicians do.

I don't need anything from those two. But history does because the history of the Iraq War includes the fact that they sold the country and our allies on the premise Saddam had WMD, no WMD was found, hearings were held here and Britain regarding the failures of our intelligence and the ginning up the little we had right. His legacy will forever be that we invaded another country on a mistake at best and a lie at worst.

One would think one or both would try to clear their names.

Yeah. The reason Bush and Cheney aren't talking is because they are soooo humble.

Yeah. Just because a brutal dictator has all the ingredients for a nuclear device doesn't mean he's going to go to all the trouble to put them together as soon as he gets rid of the UN inspectors.

So why not invade Iran, North Korea, Syria just to make sure for them as well?

We were ginning up for that when the 2008 NIE came out and said Iran had "abandoned" their nuclear weapons program. Bush jumped on it as an excuse to take Iran off the table.

You forget about the whole inspection angle don't you?

Agree with much you said but this...

I know you have read all the quotes from Clinton, Gore, Kerry and many other Dems when they were in power and getting intel briefings then coming to the mics and saying the exact things Bush said.

I never thought Bush lied. Ever. Now the intell community is another matter.

The Iraq Study Group Report.
There Bush and Cheney tried to spin the findings by saying AHA! Saddam didn't have WMD but he had the capability to start a new program! Remember that one?

Then of course there was this study:

quote:

WASHINGTON (CNN) -- President Bush and his top aides publicly made 935 false statements about the security risk posed by Iraq in the two years following September 11, 2001, according to a study released Tuesday by two nonprofit journalism groups.
