Some background:

10 team standard scoring league

Can only have 4 RBs on the team so Hillman is available

I currently carry:

Charles
L Bell
Ellington
Davis

Davis is purely there to handcuff Charles. Should I drop him and try to pick up Hillman (for at worst trade value) or should I stand pat and hold onto Davis for insurance in case Charles goes down?

Couple reasons:

1) Can only carry 4 RBs

2) Apparently I play with people that don't watch football

3) no, it's not fun. I was asked to be in this league at the last minute. It's a league with a good friend and several people he knows from work

4) yes. I will absolutely do everything I can to take advantage of them

Montee Ball owner must have thrown in the towel weeks ago.

I'd grab hillman.

Even if Charles goes down, I might still start hillman over Davis. And I wonder if Davis would even be picked up if you dropped him.

That's probably accurate

He's still got Ridley on his bench

I beat him by 60 pts last week

Again. It's not fun. But yes. I'll take advantage of them and take their money.

Exactly

That's what I'm thinking.

I bet no one would pick him up. If Charles went down I could probably scoop of Davis easily

They're idiots.

In a league where a lot of people are not very involved, I think handcuffs are not as necessary. Hillman was picked up a few weeks ago in my wife's league and she plays with a bunch of chics. Drop Davis for Hillman.

I had lunch with my buddy that invited me into the league this week

He's probably the 3rd or 4th most knowledgable football guy in this 10 team league.

He was asking me what he should so about his RB situation.
I asked him if he's looked into Dixon, Brown, or Hillman

He said "who are they?"

I proceeded to explain to him the value in actually watching football when one is in a fantasy league.

Again. He is probably the third most knowledgeable guy

The rest of them know everything about the saints.

Nothing about the rest of the league

I assume you don't start all 4 RBs.
Davis is really the only elite backup in the NFL.

His production has shown to not fall too far from JC's.

If you start 3 RBs, I would consider picking yp Hillman in case one of your other 2 RBs get injured.

If you only start 2, and mainly flex a WR or something, I would strongly consider holding onto K. Davis because it locks down the consistent production from the RB position that the 2 KC RBs are capable of (and the OL/play calling).

That's been my thought process.

I start 2 RBs, 2WRs and a flex

So I start Bell, Charles and Ellington at flex

So it's rare that I would ever start Davis

I'm really thinking about scooping up Hillman for trade value. Trade him. Then pick up Davis again bc I don't think anyone else would pick him up

That's a good thought process too. Otherwise holding onto Hillman would just be a gamble compared to holding onto Davis IMO, considering you rarely if ever use that player.

Problem is if Ellington goes down, then you really want Hillman. Stepfan Taylor has looked good this year though so there's that.
