Gold beats Purple 4-1. Both pitchers go the distance.

Purple
6 Robertson 0-2 sb*
3 Jordan, Bryce 0-1 hbp
4 Deichmann 0-2 1K
7 Jordan, Beau 0-1 1BB rbi
2 Scivicque 0-1 1BB
8 Sciambra 0-2
5 Byrd 0-1
9 Graham 0-1

Pitcher
Newman 3.2ip 7H 2K 4er

Gold
7 Fraley 0-3
6 Bregman 1-2 2b sb
9 Laird 2-2 2b 3b rbi
4 Hale 1-2 rbi
8 Stevenson 0-2 rbi
3 Chinea 1-2 1K
5 Zardon 1-2 2b
2 Papeirski 1-2 sac rbi

Pitcher
Poche 4ip 0H 1K 2BB 1er 1hbp 1wp

I ruled Bregman's liner in the 1st a 2b, even though Byrd managed to touch it with his glove as he dove toward the line.

*Robertson ran for Bryce Jordan in the 4th after he was hit in the foot by a Poche pitch. Robertson moved to 2nd on a wild pitch and stole 3rd before being driven in by Beau Jordan's groundout to 3rd.

On the sac, Newman missed the bare hand pickup, allowing Pap to reach 1st and moving Zardon to 3rd. On the rebat, he hit a 1b, to score Zardon.

Young pitchers looking good.

Any thoughts on who'll get the closer role?

Hard for me to say, I haven't been to any scrimmages. I like our options, though.

We are so deep at pitcher right now, it's hard to say. These 10 guys probably have a legitimate chance to be a starter (weekend or midweek):

Jared Poche
Alex Lange
Jake Godfrey
Hunter Newman
Alden Cartwright
Parker Bugg
Doug Norman
Jake Latz
Kyle Bouman
Russell Reynolds

Out of that group, I would say that Godfrey, Newman, Cartwright, and Bugg are the most likely closer candidates if they don't earn a starting role. Also watch out for Hunter Devall, Jesse Stallings, and Brady Domangue with regards to that spot.
