Took him deer hunting.

Got on the stand at 4:30 which was too early. Even though the backpack was loaded with:
juice
2 bottles of water
honey roasted peanuts
M&Ms
Cheetos
2 tablets (kindle and Acer - in case battery dies in one)

We had fun but he made more noise than a hand full of coins in a dryer.

I don't think Roger could hear in in Alaska.

part of it

I used to hunt a pipeline and put a feeder 250 yds away so they wouldn't be as spooky. Mine could sound like a parade.

it was fun

5 sounds like a good age, that's when I started bring mine for weekends at the camp. He's 10 now and has a love for the outdoors. He used to bring his ipod and Kindle to the stand, now he just loads his backpack up with hunting stuff like grunt call, doe bleat, hand warmers, etc.

4, will be 5 next month.

I should have waited until later in the day. It was too hot as well. We both were sweating in the stand.

The M&Ms were for me.

If he was eating why can't I?

mine was about 5, sat in my lap while I held gun and him. he was holding that nintender boy thing with the sound turned off.
such a better experience than my early days.. "dammit young ram, if you drop that moon pie one moe time and have to go down and get it, just keep on walkin' the mile back to the jeep, I'll be there sometime after dark,, and don't use a stick to push that clutch anymore!!"

Sitting in a box stand with oldest little demon several years ago, he's singing and bouncing around and doing everything in his power to be as noisey as possible. A doe and yearling walking out 10 yards from us, no more bothered by him than the man in the moon.

He has an ipad loaded with games and movies with headphones so that should help a lot

He uses that when we fly and you'd never know he was there

Little Balls at 6 is a deer hunting veteran. I've been toting him around since he was 3. I still bring an ipod or something for him to play with, but if I let him have a grunter he's in hog heaven. Only problem with that is he wants to blow it like a kazoo every 2 minutes. And thinks I'm a shitty hunter for not letting him

Been toting Jr. since he was 3. A rug makes a world of difference for the noise. They're never to young to put in the stand!!!

at 3 years old, sleepin

At 5 years old scaring all deer within 10 miles with his grunt calls...

That is good stuff man. I cannot stand sitting in a dear stand, but I feel like I should expose my boys to it.

Just to say you did? Again, that's cool. Maybe your 5 year old acts like hes on Valium all the time or drinks heavily. I'd take mine out to shoot ground birds.

I dont really take the kids much, mainly because I have limited time to hunt and need to be successful when I do go. I've got a ground blind that we hunt out of that I haven't even put up yet. I've got a little spot I'm thinking about throwing it out at though.

Oldest little demon loves the grunt call and the primos CAN. Took him hunting with a buddy of mine last year and he said it sounded like some scene from a horror movie over where we were
