For frick's sake:

patent = invention

copyright = film, literary, artistic or music

trademark = symbol, word, or words legally registered or established by use as representing a company or product

All of these are trademark issues.

(And I didn't even take intellectual property at law school.)

I wonder if they used a local IP firm or went to one of the big New York outfits. Usually the process takes about two years, so they must have had somebody good to get one registered with the patent office so quickly.

Kudos to them.

The woman selling the stuff asked Brown's mom (not named Brown, as usual) for the patent.

But yeah, after Trayvon's mom (not named Martin) copyrighted his name, it's hard to see this as anything but a proprietary dispute.

FYI, it's a common practice for women who divorce and remarry to replace their previous husband's surname with the current husband's. Do you have really have a problem with this, or is there something else about Brown and Martin that bothers you that you're afraid to say out loud?

Does Not one person in that family have the same last name?

I guess it helps with getting a unique patent when you need to try to exploit a potential tragedy on any individual member.

That really is sad to see people stoop so low as to try to make money off their child's death. How pathetic can you possibly be?

This kid never had a chance with a scumbag family like that.

Can't wait until these idiots riot when the Grand Jury returns a no bill against the officer involved.

From the article:

quote:

In a recent statement, Michael Brown’s mother asked that her son not be part of self-serving business or political actions

So it would appear she's angry that other relatives have attempted to profit from her loss, contrary to her wishes.
