My fiancee' and I just started watching the NBC show "The Blacklist" on Netflix a few days ago and it definitely is a very interesting show with a great cast and episode plots. James Spader is a genius of an actor, he portrays Reddington with an authenticity and skill that makes the role his and his alone. When you can't picture any other actor in a particular role, you know that actor owns it (for example, James Gandolfini as Tony Soprano).
We've only gotten through the first three episodes thus far, but from what I've seen so far, this show is a great one!

Yes. Yes it does. S2 E3 to date for me.

The producers hit the jackpot when they got James Spader to play that role, he was born to play Reddington.

Spader is lights out for sure.

Spader has really let himself go since his Brat Pack days. He gives exactly zero fricks now

Just finished season 1.
Spader definitely makes this show, I enjoy it.
I know its asking a lot for a network show, but I hope they cut down on the cheesiness and liberties when it comes to technology used to find and apprehend the fugitive that week.

started watching tonight, yes the tech liberties and the overtop the show is - not bad for a network series.

Is the show itself or Reddington character based off a book or something?

The show is only good because of Spader. The entire cast is super meh.
Some of the plots are beyond normal suspension of disbelief.
Almost requires a brain damaged level of suspension.
I do find the show entertaining but I can understand people who despise the show.

When I finished catching up to that show I was Spader hooked. When I heard he was in the Avengers and was Ultron, I basically got a hard on. His voice in the trailer is haunting and awesome.
