Zombie Apocalypse...going solo, small group, or large community?

Personally, I prefer going solo. Sure, there a some drawbacks, but I can be more mobile, less food required, less drama.

Like you have to sleep, for starters?
Small group is the way to go - good balance between mobility, firepower, food consumption, breadth/depth of skills, etc.
Eventually band together with other small groups to form, sort of, a larger community, but decentralized for safety. You can then begin to trade, specialize, etc., from group to group.

Not sure this is a movie board topic, but I would prefer a pair, just me and one other. You can be Mr. badass all you want, but you're almost always better off with someone covering your 6.

definitely need a couple of fatties to distract the walkers if they get close

For all the reasons listed above. It's difficult to clear a building by yourself. Psychologically, you would want someone to discuss the apocalypse with and to bounce ideas off of.
Plus if by yourself and you run in to a small group of people with bad intentions you are screwed.

Well, since I have a family, small group is what it would have to be for me.

Would anyone shoot their SO in the leg (ala Shane and Otis) to escape a horde of zombies?

Small group seems to be the way to go.

An elite team of 12 men, each with their own specialty. Skills that will be common in my unit: trained in parkour, can build explosives out of common household objects, expert trackers, know how to mask their scent, good hunters/trappers, and know how to sneak up and slit enemies throats. Basically, I'm wanting the Inglourious Basterds in the Zombie Apocalypse.

Small group for the beginning stages. After about 6 months, a small community that can hopefully prosper with surrounding communites based on alliances. My community will be producing the beer/whiskey/wine for barter.

Well yeah, I'd join up with Seal Team 6 too if that was an option.

Small group. Seal team 6 would wreck shite on the apocalypse. Always on the move.

Hmmm
I'd take your team and choose a 20,000 sqft castle on top of a hill with a moat. The castle would have a fusion reactor and battery powered transportation devices. Also the castle is stocked with OT 9s for breeding purposes. Light sabers, Batman, and 3D printer optional.

Small group of 6-10 people. No kids. At least two people with a medical background. I'd also like the ability to move quickly. I'm not a huge fan of staying in one spot and trying to build a community.
