When were the last 5 game LSU only had the role of spoiler in and how did we do?

Edit:
Spoiler defined by OP is when you have been by and large eliminated from competing for the BCS/College Football Playoff
AND
you are playing a team still in contention.

If anyone thinks a team that lost any game 41-7 is still in contention, start a different thread with your own definition of spoiler If you wish.

Here's the last four:

#9 aTm '13-- Win (LSU #18)
#3 South Carolina'12-- Win (LSU #9)
#5 Bama '10-- Win (LSU #12)
#1 Bama '08-- Loss (LSU #15)

I didn't consider top 5 matchups a "spoiler role"
These were all at home also

Bama 13 was more of an "only spoiler" scenario than '12. If we won '12, we might've won the NC.

Are you saying that we are only playing the role of a spoiler. When di you begin to be a QUITTER? I hope our team does not think like you, if they do they will surely be losers.

except for aTm '13, we either had 0 (UF 09) or 1 loss heading into these games. those aren't "only spoiler" scenarios. we could have at least gotten to the SECCG, if not the BCSCG, if things broke right.

same thing for Bama 10 that someone mentioned above. that was a bit of a longer shot because our 1 loss going in was to Auburn, but there was still more to play for than just spoiling Bama's season.

Many gave up after losing to Kentucky in 2007 and thought the same. In 2001 we started 4-3 and still made it to the SEC Championship game. Who's to say we don't end up in a 3 or 4 way tie this year?
10-2 is still a magical season to play for.
A win against Ole Miss, Bama, A&M and Arkansas matters to me.
I personally don't think the spoiler is the ONLY role we have.

Technically we were an underdog for Oregon in 2011

Someone doesn't understand the term "spoiler" (including the OP if he thinks it applies to this week's game).

The spoiler role is played by a team that has nothing significant to play for itself, but can spoil the hopes of an opponent who does have something to play for. A good example of the spoiler role would be Ole Miss vs. LSU last year. They had no chance of winning the west or anything else of significance, but we had only one loss and were squarely in the hunt for the national championship, ranked #6 nationally and in control of our own destiny in the SEC race. Their win spoiled our season, but still led to nothing for them but a 7-5 season.

LSU has not played a true spoiler role in any game in this millennium, and isn't playing it in this game, either. Lose this week, and we could possibly be in a spoiler role against Alabama, though.

Spoiler is when you don't have a chance to accomplish something, however, your opponent does. LSU doesn't control its own destiny to win the west, Ole Miss does. I know Ole Miss will still control its own destiny in the west with a loss, but LSU can spoil their perfect record.

Well shite, yeah you'd have to go way back to find 5 games where we were the spolier. I had a tough time finding when we were underdogs (lower ranked) in tiger stadium.

LSU is definitely in a spoiler role in this game, and the fact is that Ole Miss has never been in the role they are now in while rolling into Death Valley.

Bo will melt down while Jamal and company explodes on his arse. The stable will be opened on that perfect D and we'll see how that turns out.

This will be the biggest game I've ever attended, and I look for some spoiling to take place!

Should be strength vs. strength with Ole Miss passing vs LSU secondary.

I am concerned about the lack of development of the LSU passing game. We can best mediocre teams with a run-dominated game plan but will need 2 dimensions to beat the top teams.
