is it so hard to comply with the terms that you agreed too?

if the company isn't enforcing it, then they're not complying to the terms they agreed to either

If your boss is nonconfrotational this could turn out ugly because they are just internalizing the issue.

I think most people can get complacent at work, same place for 30 years, same people, blah blah blah. Who gives a damn if he hasn't shaved in 8 days, obviously, his employer doesn't. When he gets told to shave, he'll shave.

I'll use myself as an example, 30+ years at the company, I make it a point to meet or exceed what was expected of me the day I started, because as I was told that day "you are basically unsupervised workers, we hired you because we trust that you will uphold the standards that have been put forth," I'm not a nerd, but I take that seriously, those who don't, in my mind are just slackers

Here's my deal. I've watched people brown nose and realllly try to get a feather in their hat by really going out of there way to outperform others and not in one instance have I EVER seen any kind of raise or bonus given. I go to work for one reason only, money, and to do my job. There's nothing wrong with taking pride in your job, but there's a fine line where I work between blowing and doing your job.

I don't doubt that, minorities and women push the guidelines that they agreed to because they know they aren't likely to be held to the standard, it is not just policy, it is an FAR, it has to do with the oxygen mask adhering to the face

and here's my deal, I have much more respect in myself and my profession than any allegiance to an employer, and that's how I try to carry myself

ETA: it's worked out well for both sides over the decades

Most places at least let you keep it trimmed or a goatee.
