Hunter does look great in pads though

If you don't think Hunter has been awesome this year then you haven't been watching the games.

He's been our best defensive player.

Against Mississippi State, Hunter had 6 tackles, a sack,

his ONLY sack....in 8 games... That is terrible for any DE. There are 50 players in the SEC alone with more registered sacks, including some Cornerbacks & safeties.

Tackles for a defensive lineman usually aren't a good thing. It usually means they are chasing plays downfield after the carrier has gained significant yardage.

It's also a testament to how terrible the rest of our defense has been that a DE is leading the team in tackles.

Sorry, I just havent been impressed with anyone on our defense. Jamal Adams lately. People keep saying Kwon is good but he takes bad angles and is a bad open field tackler.

Also, the low sack numbers for LSU DEs this year can be partly attributed to the low amount of pass attempts. Among SEC teams, opponents are attempting the fewest amount of passes per game vs. LSU. Opponents are also completing the least amount per game and for the lowest percentage (50.7%).

LSU is #1 in the SEC, and #4 in the NCAA in Passing Yards Allowed Per Game at 156.3.

We've played 2 QBS with a pulse this year.

Dak Prescott 15/24 268 yards 2 TDs 0 INT. Ran for another 100 yards, 1 TD

Nick Marshall 14/22 207 yards 2TD 0 INT. Ran for 119 & 2 TDs.

please please please don sit here and act like our pass defense has been good because the numbers bear it. Wisc, ULM, Sam Houston, Florida all have terrible QB play, and Kentucky is below average there.

No. It doesn't usually mean that because most defensive linemen don't have the speed to chase down plays from behind. What you're talking about is a scenario in which DBs, particularly safeties, usually have a high amount of tackles.

Your original statement was bullshite, so now you're cherry-picking and spinning the argument, but you're wrong.

Bottom line -- Hunter plays with tremendous effort and has good speed, and that's why he has racked up so many tackles. And yes, part of it is also because of the performance of the defense as a whole, but Hunter makes stops all over the field. In the backfield, around the LOS, in the flats, in the second level, downfield, etc.

And Hunter doesn't lead the team in tackles. Kwon Alexander does. Hunter is 2nd on the team and leads SEC defensive linemen.

You can't measure a DE only by sacks. That's shortsighted and lacks perspective.

You missed the point. I gave you the Pass Defense numbers so that you could contextualize the sack numbers for LSU DEs, but overall, I think the Pass Defense has played well. The main issue has been the Run Defense. The Run Defense really makes the Pass Defense numbers insignificant to a large degree. Teams have been able to gash the middle of the LSU Defense on the ground, so often times they haven't needed to rely on the passing game.

There have been some breakdowns in coverage occasionally, but many of the big plays in the passing game were covered, the opponent just made a pinpoint play. That's going to happen and sometimes you just have to tip your hat to your opponent.

The Passing Defense will be challenged in the upcoming weeks. Ole Miss, Alabama, and Texas A&M are the top 3 teams in the SEC in Passing Yards Per Game, so the DEs and DBs should have a lot of opportunities to make plays.

Also, Arkansas is #2 in the SEC at 256.9 Rushing Yards Per Game. That will be a very tough matchup.
