Quick, give me 3 policies which are supported by liberals but staunchly opposed by progressives.

Liberals don't want money out of politics. Progressives do.

Liberals like Obamacare. Progressives want single payer.

Liberals don't want a balanced budget, and care far too much about spending. Progressives want a sustainable budget that leads to budget surpluses.

On that last one, Obama is doing pretty well.

well he's all for undermining our national sovereignty which seems to be far more progressive than conservative, that said he's for sale to the usual govt entities, and that makes him similar to a lot of "R's", after all the Dems and Repubs aren't really that different at the end of the day.

And I say he's no different from the previous guy but in the end that's only an opinion, not fact. Obama will go wherever the wind takes him; whether it's blowing left or right.

Really? So Progressives would favor banning donations from labor unions? And liberals are in favor of Citizens United decision? Really?

Wrong. Both liberals and progressives want increases in taxes soaking the rich.

Obama has increased the debt at a faster rate than any president in history. How is that doing well with a sustainable budget?

Progressive is simply the new name for Liberal because most people have a negative view of the word liberal. Eventually people will come to hate the word progressive and the left will have to come up with a new word.

Absolutely.

They seem to be. I see no liberals doing anything about it. I do see progressives doing something.

I haven't seen this.

The deficit is steadily falling, and will continue to. It's easy to rack up debt when you're left with a massive deficit and forced to do a bail out. Every budget since he's been in office has run a deficit, which naturally adds to the debt. But the deficit is falling.

classical liberalism would be a breath of fresh air compared to today's prog-leftist libbys. Of course most of them have no idea what that is or how different they are from it.

Today's left/progressive/liberal is basically just today's version of trendy fascist.

Someone posed an interesting questioned that was answered with name calling and complaints about civil liberties being usurped - see ammosexuals and persecuted christians - that have not been or even contemplated. Real grown up and intelligent. Your sisters and your mothers are the only ones whose rights have been abridged and you can thank your mysoginist supreme court for that. Course you guys seem to love the gobmint in your wife's, sister's. and mothers vaginal decisions for some reason I can't fathom.

How exactly?

When is the last time he had a budget actually passed through Congress?

I think everyone is missing the point. Some are saying big government is an attribute of the right, and some are saying it is an attribute of the left. In reality big government is an attribute of the party that holds most the power at that particular point in time. Very few governments in history have ever voluntarily given up powers because they think it will be for the betterment of the country.

Obama has plenty of extreme left policies. To name a few:
1. Raising taxes on the 1%.
2. Pushing for a higher national minimum wage.
3. Centralizing power to healthcare regulation to the federal government. (Not yet universal healthcare but it is a stepping stone.)
4. Decreasing competition in healthcare and health provider market places.
5. Expanding welfare programs (125% poverty rate for Healthcare subsidies, extending unemployment benefits, expanding the EBT system)
6. Federal Subsidies for alternative energy (while not necessarily an extreme left position, I believe his execution of this program was).
7. etc.?

Your responses are mindlessly arbitrary. IE, you're just making stuff up and everyone here sees how foolish you look.

Answer the question. Obama has created the largest increase in DEBT in the HISTORY of any PRESIDENT ...EVER.

Yes or No?

that isn't a really good question if you ask me, with the dollar debasement we have seen over the last 100 years, its natural for the president to add more than the previous to the debt.

What you should look at is normalized dollars or percentage increase.

wiki has some of this -LINK

I am not going to do analysis, but Obama still looks bad but so does bush.

Horse Crap. Bush was a miser compared to Obama. Obama added more debt than ALL of the Presidents combined. That's going back to George Washington.

Zach, you certainly have a lot of time on your hand to compare apples to oranges. Percentages and adjustments for inflation give a more accurate picture wouldn't you say. I mean Ronny increased the Debt 3 fold but that was a mere 3 trillion dollars - but what is worse - the guy who slowed the rate of increase of the debt by 50% or the guy who tripled it? Personally I'll go with Ronald Reagan on that one.

And you are totally wrong. RR increased revenues double by decreasing marginal tax rates. The spending end of it was the DEM congress. Are you trying to say that the reason Obama has accrued so much debt is because of those spend thrift republicans in the Congress? Really?
