Valid points. But getting him in 2007 I don't think UM would be where they are today. Don't think they would be the second best team in Michigan and worlds away from tOSU.

be fair Miles came to LSU AFTER Saban put it back on the map

To be fair, Saban came to LSU AFTER DiNardo built up a team from what Hallman had left behind.

And Peej Miles would be successful at Michigan. He wouldn't win a NC or anything, but he would have then challenging for the B1G title

I don't think he could get any better players that are there already........ SO................

You use the word "just" as though it was an easy task to keep the program up.

Large faction at UM with major influence (ie Carr and others) would not even let it get off the ground in 07'. In the latest scenario, due to the RR fiasco that faction had less pull but still enough, along with Brandon, to do a dog and pony show with Miles while really wantin someone else (Hoke). All goes back to Miles tenure on the UM staff of Moellers. Different versions of what happened but the end result is that even after his dream job opened up twice he does not have it. As much as I would love to say it was the allure of my alma mater and WANT to coach LSU that kept him here, I am realistic enough to know he would have walked in a heartbeat to UM given a serious offer and "impediments" not in place wanting to prevent it. If Brandon gets canned this year, he may be approached a final time but in his mind that boat may have sailed.

This is about Miles and Michigan. NOT that Saban built the program to great levels and Miles has done a GREAT job of keeping it going. Face IT. After Saban was here LSU recruited by name more than ANY other time in its history........... Miles or not... Miles could NOT get the same type players he has here in Michigan... That's just the way it is....

Because?
The same thing was said about Meyer at OSU. He isn't winning NC's but he is doing ok so far.

Michigan gets plenty of talent with brady freaking hoke. Miles would recruit quite well at Michigan

I don't think Saban is why Miles has done well with recruiting, especially since after two years, Miles was competing with Saban. Oklahoma St. isn't that far away, so I think Miles could recruit in the area fairly well to begin with.

It would have taken a few years to build back up to that level, and as Rich Rod showed, sometimes you just can't repeat the same thing somewhere else.

He still has a lot of leftover players... But he also walked into a better situation than Miles would at Michigan.... I just don't see Miles being more sucsessful at UM than he would be here... Not TODAY....... Players are NOT RUNNING to go to Big Ten schools like they used to...ANY coach that LSU would bring in to replace Miles could land a recruit to LSU before they would go to MICHIGAN just cause Miles is there... NOT cutting him down, But the same can be said for Saban..............
