Mason or Denard worth #1 waiver priority?

.5PPR 10 team. RBs are solid, and neither would start for me, they both be stash picks. Are either worth the #1 priority or should I hold out? Leaning towards holding out to be honest. I've had #1 since the start of the season and am looking for that one player to put me over the top, I.e. last year's Zac Stacy

Both might be. Mason definitely.

Mason
Remember daryl Richardson last year? Dude was supposed to be "it" coming off a 2012 rookie year. There was aome hype. He played a little until Fischer realized he sucked
In comes Stacy. He's effective but his YPC tell a different story. He was thought to be the guy but you don't draft an rb like Mason after taking an RB like Stacy unless you know he isn't going to be the guy
Robinson isn't good all of a sudden. I wish people would stay away from any jag save for allen Robinson

So the whole "hot hand RBBC" & "Stacy wasn't 100% and he'll get more touches talk" doesn't scare y'all away from using the #1 on him? Also the fact that he's virtually useless in passing situations?

It's just that out of those two options - Mason is the better waiver pick-up. He's in a better position to succeed than Robinson. Jaguars don't run-block very well either IIRC.

Of course
I guess it's a little different for a 10 team league.
In bigger leagues, a lot of handcuff RBs are already scooped up. So if you're holding the #1 waiver this late in the season, it's likely it won't be used on a RB who is thrust into playing time do to injury. All "break out" players have broken out by now. So there probably won't be much better than Mason from here on out.
You need to decide what you are looking for from that #1 spot.

Yeah I guess I'm just holding out because of fear honestly. I'm just worried I use the waiver on Mason and he does alright but next week or the week after there's a big must-get that I'll miss out on. But you make a good point about not too many players left out there who can break out. This is a pretty competitive league so the WW is pretty barren. Only players left I could see breaking out due to increased role situations are Blue, Taliaferro, J. Randle, or Gray.

Pretty tough schedule.

I'm not looking for a 2-3 week filler. I'd never start Brown or Dixon so it'd be a waste. Plus seeing how the Bills handle RBs, and all the conflicting reports about each RB, I wouldn't really want to touch either

Competitive league, ww barren, desperate teams... just a thought.

This will be a busy week on waivers, too. You very well could be back to the 5th position after waivers process if your league is active. It's feasible to work your way back up to 1 before the playoffs start

I think y'all talked me into it. If it doesn't work out I'm coming for blood tho.
Honestly tho I'm just a very unimpulsive buyer, I have to think about all my purchases in depth beforehand, and I think that transfers over to FF

My RB's in big money are Tate, TRICH and Crowell already dropped Spiller so I really need to hit a homerun with this so I need to know if it's mason or Brown

For me in a vacuum I'd go Mason, always been my top choice since Sunday ended. My only issue was whether or not to give up the #1 priority
Posted on 10/21/14 at 8:10 pm to PurpleDrank18
I'm #5 and I already checked #1 has PT23 out so he'll probably get him

He could always go one of the Buff RBs.
I'd just put a claim in for Mason and Brown and to drop the same person for each. If you get one, great if not you move up in the pecking order.
