Anthony's, Dang's (for Banh Mi), DiGuilios, Roccos...

Magpie (not cheap but substantially better quality)

Roccos is awful.

The rest are great, but none of those places offer anything like city pork does.

This thread finally made me create an account on TD.

We had been really looking forward to trying this place and made it in over the weekend. Talk about totally underwhelming! The pull pork was dry, over cooked and had no flavor at all. The bun was pretty plain. Nothing impressed about the food at all. It was a one and done trip, not going back for any reason. We are a family of four, but one order was from the kids menu and the total with drinks was over 45 dollars. It was too expensive for what it is.

Service was crap too, no one asked how the food was or if we needed anything.

I know they are trying to be cochon butcher but it's bad. Real bad.

I wouldn't call it bad at all, but the amount of press CP gets on here relative to the actual food is out of control. There's a long thread about City Pork somewhere that was absurd.

Maybe it is just me, but 45 doesn't sound that bad.

Always makes for a good chuckle when someone takes a family of 4 to dinner with drinks and complains about $45.

The menu is online.. with prices.

The meals are no more than a dollar or so above the chicken sandwiches at Sammy's, as I said earlier.

If you want to complain about the food, that's your opinion and that's fine. But the prices are not unreasonable IMO.

Hell, my drive thru Wendy's meal the other day was $8. The meals at CP are like $9-10.

Curious about the price comparison since the poster wanted to compare it to Butcher, which...whatever.

Butcher is $1-2 per sandwich higher and no kids menu.

Personally, if their goal is to compete with Butcher they missed on the concept. Maybe the new place is what is referenced.

Exactly, it looks like a low rent version of Butcher, and the food tastes like a low rent version of Butcher's food. I'd say they definitely missed on the concept. Please don't tell my you can't see the resemblance between the two restaurants.

Take the price out of the equation, perhaps it is a recent development but the meat just isn't good at CP. I've tried the pulled pork and the brisket and both have been either way salty or completely flavorless. When you have a total of 6 sandwiches on your menu, many of which include different permutations of the same ingredients (meats), the meat better be executed flawlessly or people are not going to come back. They completely miss the mark on their meats and for that reason, myself and others in this thread will not spend another dime at that place. They are clearly overextending themselves by opening a second location and I predict they will be completely underwater in about a year's time unless they figure out how to use their smoker.

I see a resemblance, but again, it isn't a copy of Butcher. Cheaper version that appeals to the BR masses I agree. They concentrate on simplified andwiches. Recently they have tried to get into the charcuterie, but a long way from what Butcher has attempted.

Can't comment on the meat, haven't been there in a couple of months. Every time I have been it is has been very good.

Overall I think comparing it to Butcher is a joke, but if it all you know I guess that is what you will do.

When it opened, you couldn't go a day on here without seeing a new thread. Haven't heard anything about it in a few months.

I had the Cuban there a couple weeks ago. Sandwich, chips, and drink was around $15. Pork in the sandwich had that overheated in a microwave taste, I don't know how else to explain it. Chips were over salted, and I felt like I had just drank a cup of grease afterwards. Only been once so I can't speak for anything else there.

I should clarify then. I'm not complaining about spending $45 for lunch. The quality of the food didn't justify the cost. That's my complaint.

And the other poster who said it tasted like meat reheated in the microwave too long nailed it.
