2. To become a millionaire, you must collect both Park Place and Boardwalk. The odds of finding Park Place are 1 in 11. But, the odds of acquiring Boardwalk are around 1 in 651 million. So, your chances of getting them both are about 1 in 3.5 billion.

im not sure if the math on that is right as it looks really wrong. i dont really care if it's right, though...

because, your odds of getting both boardwalk and park place are (in a practical sense) whatever the odds of getting boardwalk are.

Here's a question:

Let's say you don't eat fast food, but you're drunk or something one night and go to mcdonalds and get boardwalk. Would you either:

-start going nonstop to mcdonalds trying to collect every other gamepiece, or
-sell boardwalk for a few hundred grand?
excellent time value of money question

there is a point where you would take the lump sum over the anuity

so all you have to do to win the million is collect only those 2 pieces? You don't have to get any others?

I'm sure it meant "bad" carbs.

You can eat proteins and veggies at every meal and be fine, as long as you don't mind the repetition.

at what dollar value do you accept the lump sum as opposed to the annuity? do you accept a $400,000 lump sum as opposed to the annuity?

So the lesson is if I somehow find boardwalk, go to mcdonalds like crazy until you find park place.

I would not do that, nor would I solicit Craigslist for it or do anything that gives strangers the impression that I could be in possession of the winning piece. I would go through one or more McDonald's drive-throughs and make reasonable orders until I found Park Place, and I bet it wouldn't take more than a couple of tries.
