Suggestions on a sound card

I just hooked my PC up to a 5.1 receiver but just realized that the optical out from my motherboard does not support DTS or Dolby Digital. It only outputs PCM giving me stereo only.
I see that I am needing to buy a soundcard in order to do this but it has been over a decade since I bought one. Any suggestions on a cheap but quality option?
