Why the frick do so many players do this?

It was responsible for two goals and a number of chances this weekend in the PL.

Ask Richard Dunne, too. May be one of the reasons he's scored 10 PL own goals in his career.

I think its just human nature to let your guard down from time to time... its hard to keep up that focus over the course of 90 minutes.. credit to the teams that exploit it..

edit: I get just as frustrated when a defender fails to track his man, into the box, during the run of play, when you should be focused...

Yeah, they didn't even turn completely off. If my teammate starts walking off with the ball, I'm probably not going to backpedal to goal at a sprint

A lot of soccer is about conserving energy. There's a reason that players don't sprint full speed all game.

Sometimes players choose the wrong times to take a break.

Before yesterday both had the same goals against

At least our new guys look like they can defend. How did Can look yesterday and at what position?

I was busy doing the family thing and missed the match.

you guys still have a game to play today, and I'm hoping for a Berahino hat trick...

Can was pretty average, as was the whole team, for the most part... He played as a DM and in a more advanced role. I didn't expect much, since this is first match back from injury...

I'm pleased with Moreno and Manquillo, but Lovren has been a huge disappointment... And I still think the biggest issue in our team, defensively, is that we don't have a proper DM shielding the back 4... We haven't had one since Mascherano.

I don't know if BR has the balls to drop Stevie to a part time role and trying to plug him into a role that just doesn't suit him is not working. He still has a lot to offer, but it should be in a more advanced role and resting more.

I just checked the line up out and it said he was on the wing

A few of us told you so and for 20 mil.

It really might be that time. Let him play his more natural position but he wont be in all the time.

Definitely a high price, but he played much better last season... He wouldn't have been my first choice and I think we could have gotten better, for far less. That said, I was relatively pleased with his signing.

I think, in this case, BR went with the EPL "proven" guy... I don't think anyone expected the second coming of Baresi, but at least solid... he's been pretty bad at times..

Why

Because people value their faces. Not that you should turn your back, but I can understand not wanting to have Ronaldo, Lampard, Gerrard etc take a free kick while standing 10 yards away.
