That title is rhetorical btw because here are the actual stats. These lists aren’t complete, they just show LSU compared to teams with well known quarterback coaches (Mason at UGA and Thompson at SCar are both seniors who have been playing for 4 years) or “high powered” offenses like Kentuckys air raid or Missouris speed spread.

pass yards per game
LSU – 194.4
Missouri – 175.3
UGA – 171.3

yards per pass
LSU – 8.8
Ole Miss – 8.7
Auburn – 8.6
Texas AM – 8.1
SCar – 7.6
Kentucky – 7.4
UGA – 7.4
Missouri – 6.2
Fla – 5.9

QB rating
UGA – 148.48
LSU - 144.61
SCar – 140.00
Kentucky – 131.69
Missouri – 118.22
Florida – 107.30

scoring offense
bama - 36.9
LSU – 35.6
Ole Miss – 35.4
SCar – 35.1
Kentucky – 31.7
Missouri – 30.7

no one is content with the passing game right now, the talent far out weighs the production, but we have plays where the QB, RB, and all 3 WRs are freshman, so that's to be expected. I'm not implying that things are fine because they aren't.

this is just for the people constantly saying that we're the absolute worst offense in the SEC and every other coach has a good quarterback every year. basically, calm down, stop being so dramatic, you sound like some 13 year old girl threatening to kill herself on tumblr.

(but of course i know you won't and reality will mean nothing to you)

What about the completion percentage, or the number of and rate of interceptions. The number of sacks is also alarming.

I'm not denying that our passing game has some things that are very good about it, but ball protection is an alarming concern.

Yds/game ranks 11th, completions/game 14th, completion percentage 13th, Jennings ranks 10th in qb rating. We grade out offensively as one of the worst passing teams, but one of the best rushing teams in the SEC. The production is not what it needs to be, but it has gotten the job done for the most part. There is a lot of growth still needing to take place.

In terms of total offense, we rank near the middle of the pack like we did last year. Jennings' stats are most similar to Nick Marshall's in the SEC.

After looking at all of the stats the one that still jumps out at me is 11 receptions a game. Lately it seems like only 3 or so are to actual wrs. That one bothers me. The rest I can fathom.

Numbers like y/a and passing yards are skewed by a few lucky downfield bombs. You would have to be literally blind to think that we are better at passing the ball than any SEC team save maybe Vandy.

Nah its actually our offensive scheme. We run at such a high rate that we take chances on deep throws in our passing game. Has always been this way.

You must be a politician, coming up with the stats that support your position.

What happens to the stats when you only show SEC games? Stats against rent a wins are meaningless.

Our QB play doesn't need to be fantastic to win games. At the same time it needs to be more than just handing the ball to a RB and avoiding turnovers.

What we have is just enough QB play to keep us in the middle of the pack. If our defense or special teams play well (like they did against Kentucky) then our level of QB play is sufficient to win.

Against a team who can score (MSU / Auburn) our QB play is insufficient to win. We just need enough QB play to keep the defense honest. Currently AJ is not a threat so regardless of stats I would still say our QB play is toward the bottom of the SEC.

If he can develop (which really worries me because I remember hoping the same for two years of JJ without ANY progress) into even a slight passing threat, our running game will take over.

With AJ we'll need to play with the lead. I have little confidence we'll be able to overcome deficits if we have to abadon the running game.

Question: do these stats include the passing yards we piled up against our 3 cupcake opponents? They were:

PC/PA: 35-53
Yards: 603
TDs: 7
Ints: 1

If these numbers are included in the OPs analysis, you can see how they skew the picture. Me personally, I don't count cupcake games in team stats … but that's just me.

Considering there are (83) QB's with a better QBR than our starting QB I would say we are struggling quite a bit in that department.

Heck, the QB with the 3rd best QBR in the country is a converted running back.

Not sure why developing QB's at LSU is such a difficult thing to do.

your number is off by about 25 percent. great start.

you have no idea what goes in to the QBR do you?

number 3 is J.T. Barrett, a 4 star dual threat prospect, so i dont know who you're talking about.

Can we analyze QB stats from only SEC games? I really don't care if we throw for 400 yards and 4 TD's against New Mexico State.

i dont know man, youre so hardcore im not sure i can handle it, but i guess we can try it your way. so yeah, go through everyone's schedules and pull out every opponent you personally decide isnt XTREEME!!! enough. so every non-SEC team I guess. players like Mariota and Winston will have no stats now but frick them. and obviously not everyone plays the same SEC teams so I guess you'll have to give more weight to the teams you decree to have the better defenses. you should factor in what kind of system they're in too. and where the game was played. and whether they were ahead or behind and for how long. then for situations like UGA maybe give Mason a few points because he lost Gurley and that changed things, then subtract those points because Gurley was replaced by Chubb so maybe it didnt. this is just the start, we'll probably have a billion other little factors to consider as we go.

or we could just use the fricking stats. dumbass.

In SEC only games.

46% passing 4 TD's 2 Ints 178 ypg.

We are 10th in passing yards per game and passing efficiency (RAT) in SEC only games.

Honestly that is exactly where most people figured we would be passingwise.
