Amazing that what happens in week 2 damns a team for an enture year.

You probably want to give kenny hill the heisman too

Would Memphis represent much of an economic, political, and cultural improvement than the rust belt? Football and weather may be better, but I'm not seeing much room mock.

I just wanted to make sure, and not a complete lack of a self-awareness.

Oh I was kidding, note the hashtag and me not saying "Big Ten."

I respect the Big Ten, but I can poke fun at them for being down and for letting RUTGERS in the joint.

Sometimes it's hard to tell if the hashtag is being used sarcastically or not. It's fine on twitter, but irritating when people non-jokingly use it elsewhere. Glad you weren't serious with it.

Anyways, no doubt the conference is down and has looked horrible at times. I really don't know how I feel about Rutgers. I get their appeal to the conference financially, but they aren't exactly known known for their athletic dominance. As of right now, only two teams have any chance of getting in the playoff, and it's definitely an uphill battle for both, but especially OSU.

Ohio State isnt out of the converstaion, but we would need a lot to happen. One thing to remember, and Ohio St would have to start lobbying for this thought process as well, is when we lost to Va Tech, JT Barrett only had 2 weeks to get ready for that game. Losing Braxton Miller that close to the season was difficult. Now we are getting better and better each week. That and win out and have some of the teams we have beaten win out as well.

Have Maryland finish 9-3 (which is very possible)
Have Rutgers finish as good as possible.
Beat a 10-2 Michigan St
Beat an 8-1 Minnesota team and then have Minny win out and finish 10-2.
Beat a 10-2 Nebraska team in the B1G title game.
Have everybody else lose.

That would at least give them 5 quality wins. That is the best case scenario for the Bucks.

Ohio State is gonna finish the year with a 2 touchdown loss at home to a 5 or 6-loss ACC team.

Let's not get stupid and act like something like this isn't unprecedented.

2007 LSU lost to 5 loss Kentucky AND 5 loss Arkansas. That Virginia Tech loss in week two is not a deal breaker IF Ohio State continues to demolish the teams in their path.

Everyone is screaming about the schedule yet Maryland had West Virginia on the ropes. You know, the same West Virginia that beat Baylor and played well against Alabama.

Fact is that Ohio State is perhaps the most improved team in the nation since the beginning of the season.

I thought injuries played into the committee thinking as well? Is it only injuries where a star comes back after like spraining an ankle?

That could be. Then again a dominating performance at Sparty and the VA Tech loss matters little.

Sparty's defense is suspect this year.

This applies to Oregon, but not Ohio State. Thats all we are going to hear about in Oregon's case for the playoff is with Oregon getting their offensive lineman back they are again a top team. Now they will be saying Oregon with him back is playing the best blah blah blah, but for Ohio State, it doesnt matter. We arent allowed to use Braxton Miller's injury for the Va Tech game. Ohio St is just going to have to take care of business. We plain and simple arent getting the benefit of the doubt this year.

The good news is that the committee will be made up of varying views and what we see posted here and some of the media detractors will have zero influence on what is decided by them.

Why should Ohio St get the benefit of the doubt?

Had a chance in last year's B1G championship to prove their worth and go to the Rose Bowl and failed.

Played Clemson and lost in a shoot out.

Had a prime time game against VA Tech and got the shite blitzed out of them. And VA Tech turned out to blow donkey dick on top of it.

Last 3 times on the national stage, 3 losses. You can make excuses for all of them (new o-line, new QB, new RB, overhauled defense) but that is the public perception.

Now, we are playing 3 consecutive prime time games in a row. College Gameday will likely be at the MSU game. Great chance to change some of that perception. But they need to produce at the end of the day in a big way.

We just simply don't deserve the benefit of the doubt.

They shouldn't. What they need to do is to continue to win in dominating fashion. Their margin for error is razor thin which is reflected in the fact that a Baylor team that lost to West Virginia and gave up 58 points to TCU is still ranked ahead of them in the AP poll.

I think it's a two year process.

Beat Sparty, win the B1G, get snubbed for a playoff spot and win your bowl game.

That sets up 2015 to get the benefit of the doubt. Get revenge in Blacksburg, go 12-1 and get in.

Sucks but kinda the spot we are in.
