Minnesota hasn't looked great in any wins though. Michigan is a joke so no one takes that game seriously. Barely beating a bad Purdue doesn't get voters attention. May not be fair, but you gotta beat somebody to get the name recognition bias.

They have to win the Big Ten without losing another game, and have the Pac 12 and Big 12 champions have at least two losses a piece.
And still, a two-loss Oregon team could have an argument to go ahead of them. Maybe.
It doesn't matter though. Ohio State will lose another game at some point.

A 1 loss conference champ (meaning B1G, Pac, Big 12) will get in over a 2 loss champ in those same conferences. There will not be a 2nd SEC team either unless 2 or more of the power conference champs have 2 losses.

Yes, Minnesota has not looked good yet. Will find out who they are over the final month of the season

OSU is climbing an uphill battle. Regardless of how good they are, a B1G team will need to put together two great seasons to be in the playoff discussion. They need to win a high profile bowl game the year before to have a platform to stand on, or win a marquee OOC game. Meanwhile Florida St gets a free pass for playing nobody last year but I digress.
I think this OSU team is very similar to 2005. One of the best at the end but starts the next year elevated.

This weekend is a white out at Penn St. I think if we can win that we run the table. Michigan St has looked beatable even though its there.

Osu will lose to msu. Then they are out of the picture. OSU hasn't beaten hardly any good teams since 06, but yet they are always ranked due to name and making 2 title games (which they got blown out in)

And seriously, which top 20 team besides osu couldn't be undefeated against their schedule thus far? Cincinnati is their best win. Or maybe navy, lol

They're releasing a poll every week. That poll is gonna have 3 teams in the top 5 from the SEC pretty much every single week for the rest of the season.
Then the last week they're just gonna drop them all out?
Not gonna happen.

Their schedule is nothing too impressive to this point, I agree.

Well, Florida State also didn't lose, so there's that.

It seems there are at least decent odds there will be two or more SEC teams with no more than one loss.

I can only see both Miss Schools getting in. They meet undefeated in the egg bowl and both have a chance to get in.
If its a clusterfrick of 1 loss teams only the champion gets in.

The same parity that is happening in the SEC West is happening everywhere else in the country.
The Pac 12 and Big 12 haven't played half of their conference schedules yet, and neither conference has an undefeated team. The Big 12 isn't getting a team in the playoff. Their schedules are always backloaded, and they'll pick each other off. The Pac 12's biggest chance is Oregon. Really their only chance. Arizona State, Arizona, and Utah all have one loss currently, but it's pretty obvious that none of those teams are that great. All likely 3-loss teams.
As for the Big Ten, it's really Michigan State as the best option. They'd need to win every game from this point forward, and they'd have a shot. But to be honest, they haven't been that impressive this year.
I don't think Notre Dame can win out with their schedule either.
I think Oregon wins out.

You could also have a scenario where Alabama/Auburn finish with one loss. Especially if Auburn finishes with one loss and Kansas State finishes with only one loss, they'd have a great argument.

Ohio State's schedule sucks, but Maryland would destroy both Cincinnati and Navy. This is 2014, not 2013.

Ohio State is gonna finish the year with a 2 touchdown loss at home to a 5 or 6-loss ACC team.
They should be out of it no matter what. So them beating Michigan State is a bad thing for the Big Ten.
