Interviewer: Do you have a message for the climate change skeptics and the big oil people?
Musk: Well, as far as climate change skeptics…I believe in the scientific method and one should have a healthy skepticism of things in general…if you pursue things from a scientific standpoint, you always look at things probabilistically and not definitively…so a lot of times if someone is a skeptic in the science community, what they’re saying is that they’re they’re not sure that it’s 100% certain that this is the case. But that’s not the point. The point is, to look at it from the other side. To say: What’s the percentage chance that this could be catastrophic for some meaningful percentage of earth’s population? Is it greater than 1%? Is it even 1%? If it is even 1%, why are we running this experiment?

Because we are rational ?
Because your 1% "statistic" was fabricated in your head?
Because it's not "an experiment" it's daily reality for billions of humans?
Because the entire global economy is based on cheap fossil fuels?
Because other affordable alternatives do not exist yet?
Because we'd rather have a decent standard of living than abject poverty?
Because we'd rather be free men that slaves to State fiat?
Because I don't have 100k to spend on your shitty-arse car?
Because I'd rather feed my kids?
Because I choose to live in the real world?
Because I don't consider you my fricking Overlord?
I don't know Elon, you tell me ...?

So we should be taxed into oblivion and become a third world nation because there's "a chance" that climate change lunatics are right?
I don't think so. And who the frick cares what Elon Musk thinks anyway.

Yeah he's unbiased on the subject of fossil fuels as the owner to an electric car company...

Yeah, he's got nothing to gain in this debate.

And what's funny is all these guys that say this are never living the life they think everyone should love. They aren't giving up the use of fossil fuels. The most they do is buy "carbon offsets" which likely goes to a company that they are tied to.

Probabilism has it that a CEO will skew an argument in favor of his company

Considering the majority of electricity is created by fossil fuels, I find Musk very hypocritical.
