Scout your neighborhood bars. Find one or two you can become a regular at. Good way to meet locals and broads.

There's a really good one a couple of blocks from the Wyndham, the King's Inn I think, spent the week of 9/11 there, had a different disaster wife every night.

Willow's Grove,

I would find something local or in Abington.

I lived by Valley Forge.

So far most of the advice is spot on.

Montgomery County PA in da house!

I like the Old City 'hood. Philly is full of cocksuckers, but it's not that bad of a place. I noticed a lot of obesity each time I visited.

Did one of those in Beijing, and it was a blast. Definitely putting that on the calendar.

Tattooed mom is a chill/unusual spot.

El vez has good food.

Jims cheesesteaks was a cool experience

Sixers games are fun cuz they suck (kinda like going to an astros game)

The colonial shite, though awfully touristy is actually kind of cool. Liberty bell tour and all that

Amish country is like an hour away. Gettysburg and valley forge too. Im obviously a history geek

Many of the restaurants are (were?) BYOB so make sure to stock up on booze before you go.

Philly has a lot of small "bring-your-own-booze" restaurants.

I loved the BYOB places, nothing like rolling into a place with a cooler full of beer that's half the price you would pay at the restaurant.

When I lived in DC I went there all the time to party friends.

I was definitely a fish out of water. It's a very "pro" town. No one cared about college, only college talk was about Villinova.

The jersey shore thing is great. Easy hook ups. South Jersey shore is way different and better than North Jersey shore. Atlantic city is really close but is crap.

If you're single, sorry, I never had any luck in downtown scene.

Good to know. Friend I met in Houston moved back to Philly and told me about it, I'm flying up there for that weekend to partake.

I'll bump this thread later and hopefully we could do some sort of meet-up.
