You need to read up on how into character Shia got for this role. He didn't bathe for weeks. The cast & crew were discusted. People hate on him but I think that's more to do with his bizzare behavior. He wasn't bad at all in Lawless, Bobby, or Wall Street 2.

Brad Pitt has done nothing but praise him.

I saw that. If Shia really does get a supporting Oscar nod it's going to rustle a lot of jimmies.

He's kind of a ferret-faced little wiener. I'm not a fan, but ive still been wanting to see this movie.

Yeah he was on jimmy kimmel the other night and he said he even pulled out one of his teeth to get more in to character. He took this role seriously

His performance was good, but it didn't stand out to me as Oscar nom-worthy.
The whole getting into character thing can be overrated (not saying it was in this case, just in general). Like, when people gain/lose huge amounts of weight, spend months in unusual locations with unsavory people, shut themselves up in a room for weeks, or whatever, to prepare for a role. You still have to act. Effort alone doesn't make a good performance.

They had the actors fist fight on set every day too... Pretty crazy.
Getting into character normally leads to good performances. Last year getting into character won best actor/best supporting actor.

That's actually a typical hack maneuver. The famous story of a conversation between Dustin Hoffman and Lawrence Olivier comes immediately to mind. When Hoffman told him that he had done similar things to prepare for a scene in Marathon Man, Olivier responded "Dusty, why don't you try - acting."
Dude is a wiener.

Happy that this director is slated to direct Suicide Squad.

Pity. Only two good movies into his career before bowing before the golden calf of comic book movies. . .

It was offered in something-or-other "XD" in my theater. Sounds like an IMAX knock-off, but something for which they can charge more anyways. I watched the regular version.
To my knowledge, it is not in IMAX.

Ehhh I mean Hoffman is considered one of the great actors. And of course Day-Lewis is in the conversation for greatest actor of all time and is famous for his method acting.
That being said I think Lebouef needs to get back into comedy. He was legitimately great as Louis Stevens, and if anyone has seen any of his talk show appearances promoting Fury, particularly on kimmel, it's clear he still has considerable comedic charisma

What were they saying in the movie before each shot of the tank's cannon? It sounded like: "Fire!" "On what?!" Boom!
Stupid question, but I honestly couldn't make it out. Google is no help. It's probably something obvious that I just didn't get. TIA

In modern armor, it's
LOADER: Up! (breech is closed)
COMMANDER: Fire!
GUNNER: On the way!
Not sure if that's what you heard.

SPOILER QUESTION
Can someone just answer this for me, as it's mainly keeping me from going to see the movie: in the film is a single M4 Sherman able to outfight and destroy a Tiger in open country in a one-on-one engagement?
