I lost interest in the series starting with the book you're on now...I read all the way through Song of Susannah and just didn't feel like reading the last book. Am I missing out?

Probably not. Many people hated the ending.

At some point King actually writes himself into the story.

I liked the last several books but I read them while stuck in Houston after Katrina. Since was trapped with nothing to do, I probably got a bit more enjoyment from the books than most people.

As to a movie or series, Ron Howard tried and I guess they couldn't figure out how to make it work for the masses and not cost a billion dollars.

Not really....it really slipped after Wizard and Glass.

I'd read it just to see how it finished. I did not like the ending at all, and I believe King wrote himself into a corner.

I think the book Wind Through the Keyhole (which takes place somewhere between book 3 and 4 I believe) was better than anything written after book 4.

Yes, but they planned a goofy format.

I think some of the early books would be a TV show (network so toned down) then they would have some movies followed by more seasons of the show.
