Are elite QB's worth what they used to be?

I was offered this trade. PPR and 4 point passing td's.

Receive:
Aaron Rodgers
Travis Kelce

Send:
Matt Ryan
Andre Ellington
Brandin Cooks

I am probably going to decline even though my team is fairly deep because I don't think the upgrade from Ryan to Rodgers is all that big. So far, Rodgers is scoring 1.5 more ppg, and I would not be surprised if he outscores Ryan by 5 ppg ROS, but it is worth losing Ellington (a rb who will probably score 15 ppg and be a low end rb1)?

I have Jimmy Graham, so Kelce would be nice for now, but useless soon. I could survive the loss of Cooks. He is either a flex play or bench depending on the week.

My thought is no. Going from a top 6-8 QB to an elite one is not worth dropping a consistent performer. There are just too many solid QB's at this point.

Just kind of interested what you guys think you would give up to go from a Russell Wilson, Matt Ryan, Tony Romo type to a Rodgers or Manning. I am at the point where I think it is only worth a top 15 RB or WR or two top 20 guys. Maybe I am undervaluing the gap, but I used to love owning an elite QB. Now, I do not think it is close to being worth the price.

Thoughts?

elite QBs are different in 4 vs 6 pt TD leagues

As a postion, the variance isnt huge either way. But in terms of scoring sheer points in W2W matchups, 6 pt TD QBs are more valuable.

Scan your leagues and notice teams with Peyton and Luck are at the top of the standing

Luck did not cost the same as Manning and Rodgers. Luck owners are obviously killing it.

The Manning and Rodgers teams all seem to be league average in my leagues. In TDFL, 4-2, 3-3, 2-4, and 1-5.

Even in a 6 pt TD, I still don't think I'd do it. Rodgers is great, nut IMO you'd give up too much.

Cooks will get a ton of targets, albeit shorts one, but still they add up.

I'm not high on Ellington, but he's been decent.

I thought Ryan would be having more consistent outings, but other than Julio and that lil RB they got( who should be getting the ball more), it hasn't happened yet. Where the frick has Roddy White been? Dude fell off.

Roddy hit the age wall. People forget he will be 33 this year.

Luck got chosen in the first round as the 8th pick in my league. All of us except the guy were laughing about it. He's 4-2 near the top with the two 5-1 guys and all of us at 3-3, 2-4, 1-5 aren't laughing anymore.

He's about to start losing more often though. Spiller, Richardson, Sproles are his RBs. Unless Luck, Smith Sr, Dez keep saving him.

You are obviously a good team, but it is not like the 1-5 team is league average either. Adding those four teams up at 10-14 is not hot.

Also, none of the teams are the world beaters, which have Luck and Cutler at the helm.

Ive never been on the elite qb idea but I did just trade for Matt ryan. And the teams with brees and manning are both 5-1 in my league

I don't know enough about your team to agree with this. Kelce might be a decent flex play.

Plus, Rodgers puts up rushing yards/tds.

Every league is different.

I would never start Travis Kelce in the flex. Team is 5-1.

I am not doubting that Kelce will be an upgrade over Jace Amaro for two weeks or so, but it was more a discussion on how much you think it is worth to go from a good qb to a top one.

The discussion always goes more than that.

Besides, how would anyone know based on your post? You gave very little info.

Fwiw, I started Kelce in the flex along with Gronk as my TE, during a bye week. I won.

Like I said, the trade made me just wonder what everyone found the difference to go from a good QB to an elite QB. For me, I thought Andre Ellington was a little too expensive with 4 point passing td's.

If you really want to know my roster, then:

Matt Ryan
Ellington
Lamar Miller
Dez
Wallace
Cooks
Jace Amaro (or whoever for now)
Lions
Catanzaro

Bench:
Jimmy Graham
Rashad Jennings
Bishop Sankey
Ronnie Hillman
Cordarrelle Patterson
Josh Gordon
Spiller

Luck has single handedly carried my team 2 maybe 3 weeks already. I'd say the only Elite QBs worth their price this year are Manning and Luck. The rest aren't elite fantasy QBs.

I think Elite QBs are worth a lot due to their consistently high #s. Other positions vary by the week even with the elite guys. Before this year, I was against taking an Elite QB but decided to go for one this year. It's definitely paid off big time.

Negative, both owners are middle of the pack at 3-3, although 1st place is only 4-2.

i drafted Luck in the 4th to go along with D. Thomas and Julio. I'm 6-0 heading into this week.
Before the season started there were a ton of analyst talking about how Luck would be the next elite guy. I guess they were right on this one.

As far as the trade goes. I would not do it.
