I might be biased, but this is a dumb idea.

ETA oh this is tongue-in-cheek, as if all government agencies are equal

The CDC should be a Defense Department function.

I would like to see metrics that positively show CDC success and that but for the CDC, that success would have been impossible.

What's funny is that all of my big government friends don't trust the CDC aka big government.

I think the mission of the CDC is an inherently governmental function.

"CDC works 24/7 to protect America from health, safety and security threats, both foreign and in the U.S. Whether diseases start at home or abroad, are chronic or acute, curable or preventable, human error or deliberate attack, CDC fights disease and supports communities and citizens to do the same."

IMO, ^^^ is why you have a federal government instead of a bunch of states doing things 50 different ways. The same cannot be said for many other departments and services.

Could these functions be administered in a better way? Perhaps. Should be be as political as the shite show we've seen the last few day? Absolutely not.

I suggested abolishing the CDC years ago. They are not a medical research institution. They are a huge govt burocracy.

Well... They haven't exactly done much to prevent ebola from entering the US, have they?

We all agree that the nine most terrifying words in the English language is "I'm from the government and I'm here to help".

Clearly the government is not good at anything it does, pretty much no matter who is at the healm. You're likely to have a Democrat president for the next 20 years, anyway. Instead of complaining about how Obama's ebola quarantine skills aren't up to snuff, why not push to abolish the CDC?

No CDC. Problem solved.

Definitely. The CDC is not in the Constitution. GOVERNMENT DOES NOT WORK - that IS in the COnstitution. Econ 101.

If your entire justification for abolishing the CDC is bc it an a govt agency and bc of "ebola" you are no different than the uninformed voters you ridicule. Which is why I always ask do you know what the CDC does in this threads and I always get very few to zero responses.

The answer was contained in the subsequent rhetorical. "What do you know about the CDC?"

The CDC is a valuable organization. It currently suffers from a pathetic public face. It suffers from incredibly bad leadership, both in Atlanta and in DC. No need to throw out the baby with the bathwater though.

Are you insane? The one thing these jerks at the Fed level SHOULD be doing are things like Disease Control, meaning quarantine powers, which can only be by force, therefore it must remain an agency of the Federal Government.

What problem? Are you suggesting that no agency whatsoever should be in charge of battling viruses that have exponential growth rates?????

Silliest crap I've seen all day. And what does this have to do with BHO?
