Yea since day one.
My dad played football at S Miss and boxed at LSU.
Coached high school sports and football his whole life. Grandma lived in BR. Paw Paw lived in Covington.

Watched the very 1st Saints game in glorious black and white.

Now I live in Pcola and drink fine Bourbon.

So you're one of THOSE people. I hate that argument. The team lost that game as a whole. Yes, the offense had a rough start, but they righted the ship and put us on top several times. And remember one of those turnovers was on special teams. And at the end when we had a grasp on the game, the one thing he knew how to do, call a blitz, got forgotten, allowing Smith to look like Montana.

We don't know how it would end up if the offense didn't have turnovers.

What we do know is, in the 4th quarter, the offense gave us the chance to win twice. Defense couldn't prevent Alex Smith from making a comeback.

What?
I just added LSU since my whole avatar was a flying Saints goat.
Was gonna change "lsufan" but changed my mind then changed it again and now don't know what I will put there.
Strange days.

While we should have blown them out, I could have sworn we had the lead with a minute to go.

That was a team effort of fricking up.

3 offensive turnovers and 2 special team turnovers.

Gave up 16 points on SF's final 3 drives.

And made Vernon Davis and Alex Smith look like the greatest duo in pro football history.

5 turnovers resulting in oodles of points...but no, 3G's defense didn't get it done on the last drive so frick him and the super bowl we won because of him

Lol

We took the lead with 4:02 and another 3 point lead with 1:37 seconds to go. SF only had 1 timeout.

They scored with 9 seconds to go on the clock. We should have won the game

The last 3 drives. We didn't get it down in the 4th quarter at all. He decided to send the house when it was near impossible for us to lose the game in regulation if we kept everything in front

Bottom line: We had the lead twice in the last 5 minutes and all we had to do was keep SF out of the endzone.

God damn this fan base turned into whiny spoiled little bitches quickly. Go back and ask any of us pre 2009 what you wouldn't give for the 2009-2011 stretch of Saints football.

what is the statistical probability of winning a road playoff game after committing 5 turnovers?

We just brush off the 5 turnovers because the offense got a lead? the defense has zero margin for error. The offense got the lead back and that's because the offense gave them the lead

10 points

just 10 points...makes a pretty big difference. You keep bringing up the last drive, but that's the ball game right there. And how impressive that despite 5 turnovers, the defense ONLY allowed 10 points

quote:

The last 3 drives

and here's the kicker, no one talks about the gazillion drives before...you're mad because the defense wore out at the end, but as a whole they did more than enough for us to win that game.

what about our offenses first two drives and the 14-0 lead we gave them. BTW, I'm looking at it right now, and they had more than 10 points off of turnovers

think what you will

no Lombardi without 3G and our offense and special teams were more of the culprit in san fran

I never brushed it off, but that is kind of how statistical probability works. It takes the current situation. So statistically, we had overcome the 5 turnovers

quote:

the defense has zero margin for error.

False. They could have held them to a FG, not given up points on the final 3 drives, could have held the lead they were given twice in the final 5 minutes

quote:

The first time, or the second time?

quote:

No, I brought up the last 3 drives actually.

And the defense played well enough in the 1st half.

quote:

and here's the kicker, no one talks about the gazillion drives before...you're mad because the defense wore out at the end, but as a whole they did more than enough for us to win that game.

Why did they wear out? We won TOP.

quote:

Turnover 1: PT fumbled at the 2 yard line. SF punted
Turnover 2: Int by Brees - Gave up 7
Turnover 3: Roby fumble on kickoff - Gave up 3
Turnover 4: Int - SF punt
Turnover 5: Fumble by Sproles - 3 points.

So we gave up 13, not 10. Certainly not way more.
