Even thinking about Ebola could get you infected :ohnos:

A judge has granted Attorney General Buddy Caldwell's request for a temporary restraining order to keep Ebola waste ashes out of Louisiana, according to Caldwell spokesperson Laura Gerdes.

The Ebola virus is killed during incineration, according to the Centers for Disease Control. The management company acknowledged the ashes posed no risk to people, but decided to stay out of the issue.

Caldwell is up for re-election one year from tomorrow.

I heard him on the radio this morning and from what he said CDC did not do 2 things they said they would.
1) test the incinerated waste to confirm total virus destruction. CDC said they would do it before moving the waste and they did not.
2) moving this waste requires a permit from State DHH supposedly and they did not get a permit.
So he filed suit to force the cdc to do what they said they would do.
Edit: he also kind of rambled.

I don't blame him.
Texas needs to handle its own shite plus CDC isn't telling the truth

I have no problem with this, just a matter of a state exercising control over its own territory.

Me either, why do they have to drive all the way to La. with medical waste? They don't have dumps there in Texas???

Don't be fooled, that and re-election were the basis of his reasoning.

So he's not a maroon?
If the CDC tests this stuff and they go through proper protocols, but he still tries to block it, then I'll take back my take back.

If properly incinerated, I would think it's safe, but I'm not an expert.
I guess that is the question, and the need for testing.

Because this is the landfill that this incinerator has dumped far more dangerous waste than Ebola ash for years without a problem?
This landfill has no problem with it just Politicians understanding their fear/angst riddled base.

Just FYI, autoclaves work at ~121 C.
Industrial incinerators work at 1000+ C.
Now the mechanisms may be different, but I'm thinking the temp difference makes up for it.

It's not a prion, but if the CDC didn't follow their protocol, frick them and their waste.

Yep. Caldwell may be playing politics but this is the correct answer in the long run.

Who here would rent one of the apartments adjoining the one Duncan was in?
That poor SOB that owned that place got hit with this out of absolutely nowhere. Doubt his insurance covers Ebola vomit & diarrhea cleanup.
