I'm all for sportsmanship.

But I don't think that's an overall big problem, and I'm not crazy about Alleva's vid message almost warning fans off from being loud and passionate.

It seems that Joe Alleva wants to turn Tiger Stadium into his own personal vision of a Pepsodent commercial, with all fans having the same plastic smile he does.

Maybe it was more about bringing a tradition back instead of a sportsmanship thing.

What does this even mean?

He was referring to when the opposing team runs onto the field for the first time. There used to be a unified chorus of "Tiger Bait" but now it just just a chorus of boo's.

We've always booed the other team when they ran out onto the field.

Know how I know you never went to LSU games before the late 90s?

Why did the "Tiger Bait" chant upon the entry of the opposing team into the stadium Geaux away? I always thought it was a classic LSU tradition. Miss it.

I've been going to LSU football games since 12/5/1970. Try again, Hot Shot!

I agree with you. I remember booing Bama and the Bear with my Dad in the 1970s and when I was a student at LSU in the 1980s.

What? I'm not some roaring Alleva fan, but I literally have no idea what this means. If your argument was that you were upset that you think the message makes LSU fans look bad because it appears Alleva is having to essentially tell LSU fans not to be assholes to opposing fans, then I might agree. I hate the idea that the AD is telling fans to not treat guests poorly...as it assumes we do or would if not for his message.

But to not be loud? Dunno...

The Ole Miss game was even worse.

I think it was an attempt to solidify a tradition rather than being generic. If the entire stadium would chant Tiger Bait it would be another thing that would set Tiger Stadium apart.

Booing is just generic noise that sounds like any stadium.

Ironically, we seem to be hellbent on TRYING to sound like every other stadium at least as far as the AD goes now by virtue of piping in the exact same music every other stadium seems to want to pump in.

I don;t think it had anything to do with respect...just a way to set Tiger Stadium apart. And I'm almost positive that the idea was first proposed on-line and then taken to Skip who made the suggestion.

I always thought the tradition was an initial boo then a chorus of tiger bait.

Booing Alabama's band was the funniest shite I have ever seen.

I remember this from my first games in the 70's. I, along with a lot of people in our section, still do this when the opposing team comes out. TIGER BAIT sounds better than boooooooo. It would be great if the student section revived this tradition-although I'm sure they would add TIGER BAIT ___________(insert obscene phrase here). Either way, it would be better than boo.

I was a freshman at LSU in 1963 and after every game, the student section left the stadium with, "GO TO HELL OLE MISS, GO TO HELL". I still feel that way!
