The team is 7-1 against teams under .500. It looks like we have 6 of those in this stretch, presumably the 6 wins you're counting. They have beaten some .500 and better teams, 3-9 vs. teams over .500 or 25%. So add 3.5 wins to the 6 and that would put 9-11 as the expected number.

However, if we had the bench play we've had since Mekel and Cunningham arrived, we'd have beaten Portland and Washington for sure, and probably Dallas. That pushes you from .250 to .500 against teams over .500. If that were to hold, you win the 6 gimmes and 7 of the hard ones for 13-7. That's how you do optimistic.

To think that guys like Mekel and Cunningham will make a real difference is the epitome of optimistic there's a good reason both of these guys weren't in the NBA last week. Over a small sample size yes they look somewhat adequate but in a week or 3 it'll be "they are who we thought they were".

to be fair i really doubt they could get worse than what they replaced so it really will be hard for us to consider them disappointments

To think they won't shows how little you know about just how bad the bench had been.

Yes. Cunningham was falsely accused of domestic violence at the same time Ray Rice had made it even more uncool than usual. And Mekel was very much desired by the Mavs, in fact they are still paying him money, but they cut him to bring back the familiar JJ Barea, and the Pacers would have quickly picked up Mekel but couldn't because of visa issues.

Again you are showing how clueless you are about what an abomination of a 2nd unit we had been running. It was that bad that adequate is a huge improvement. I'm kind of disappointed, I figured you'd be very much aware of the worst aspect of our team.

Yes there were.

Mekel was going to be signed by multiple teams but had visa issues that didn't clear up until last week.

Cunningham was accused of domestic abuse. Those charges turned out to be 100% false and that didn't get cleared up until recently.

Both would have easily been on rosters if not for those issues. But keep talking about things you know nothing about.

Yes, he was still an assistant in Portland Cunningham's rookie year.

Dude I watch over 50% of the teams games. Yea Cunningham and Mekel have looked decent lately against the Lakers and Knicks, 2 totally crap teams. Pels would have beaten those teams without those guys. Did either of those guys even help to keep it CLOSE in other games? NO they didn't.

They will look good in wins v Scrubs, but these guys aren't gonna enable the team to beat the big dogs.

again it's not how good they are overall it's about how much of an upgrade they are over what we had. we got 2nd unit players that would probably be below average in the D league

They are an upgrade for sure. Cunningham in particular has been great because our wing defense was abysmal. He's a good defender. That's going to help more than people think.

Tyreke still needs to play in control, Ryno needs to hit his shots, and Gordon needs to come back healthy.

If those things happen, those no reason why we shouldn't be at .500 or a game or 3 ahead of it.

Did I say they'd help us win against Golden State and the Clippers? No. I said they'd help us win a Washington game we almost stole, a Portland game where the team was -18 in the 10 minutes or so that AD, Jrue and Tyreke were on the bench, and a Dallas game we lost by 5 where every bench player was -5 or worse in +/-.

I do a little contract scouting/consulting when I have time I'll watch a week's worth of games in one night.
