The worst excuse to explain bad performance from a player/franchise?

I think the worst excuse I remember is The Bucs trying to tell us Vinny was color blind.
They said that was reason he threw all the interceptions. But forgot that at Miami they wore Orange (darker shade) and his worst games were in white it seemed.
He seemed to do okay in New York in home jerseys.
