I've been really eyeing buying a 1911 but as I started to research, I've realised that everyone makes a 1911

Do any of you guys own one and could suggest a maker? I've seen prices anywhere from $500-2000, I'd like to stay under $1000

Several have said Ruger, i agree 100%. I own a Ruger SR1911. Absolutely love it.

Not my gun, but it's identical. For the price, you can't beat it.

If you want to extend that price range to $1200 or so...Kimber.

That's good advice. TRP can be had if buying used.

I'd switch the Ruger and Springer in that list. Springer is all forgings and better barrel fit. Plus they don't offer the GI, just the Mil-Spec which is a step up.

For the average person they just want aesthetics. That's why the Ruger gets the 1st place nod on my list.
