I decided recently upon listening to for the first time in many years on the radio (97.7 to be specific) that "Take it Easy" is actually a pretty fricking solid song

There doesn't appear to be any middle ground regarding The Eagles. You either love 'em or hate 'em. I grew up listening to their music and I love 'em. I saw 'em at Red Rocks many years ago.

I'm not a fan of them... but I don't exactly hate them and most of their songs are harmless enough (Don Henley solo, is another matter)
There are a ton more bands from that era that I hate a lot more..

Eagles hate has been around a lot longer than that movie... It just gave the movement a catch phrase

Their harmonies are cold and sterile. Their sound takes the worst from country and rock rather than the best -- the plodding thud of arena-rock and the soulless muzak of pop-country.
