Question for the OB. Boat A is fishing about half way down a dead end canal that is 500 yards long,100 feet wide using trolling motor. Boat B comes in behind boat A and starts to troll behind. Boat A stops and Boat B tries to go around to get to the dead end part of the canal. Should boat B stay behind Boat A or is it ok for him to troll around?

Depends on how long boat A stops.

Boat A has no claim to the rest of the canal. Boat B is good to go. Though the courteous thing would be for boat B to fish the opposite bank of boat A as the pass them and fish back around the dead from the opposite way. When boat B gets kinda near them coming back just go around for a ways and fish bank boat A just fished. That's what I would do at least.

Boat A stopped for about 15-20 casts or so, fishing the same spot after picking up one undersized trout.

I decided to troll to the opposite bank to pass him without casting. As I get even with him, he starts trolling as fast as he could to get to the back, the whole time yelling at me that I should fish somewhere else because he was in the canal first.
After a shouting match and threatening to whip my butt, he proceeds to start his boat, cut donuts in the canal, and wake the hell out of me.

so he was in the canal first, fishing his way to the back...you pulled in...saw an opportunity to go by him and get to the back of the canal first...
does that about sum it up?...

Saltwater fishing is so weird with this shite.

If it were two guys bass fishing a dead end canal this nobody would've thought twice. shite happens all the time.

He was fishing the entire canal. I was on my way to a rock damn at the end of the canal, where I was going to fish off the bank on the other side of the dam.

I thought I was being courteous by trolling behind him instead of running through him to get to the back.

Should of thrown prop foulers, fired torpedoes, and hit him with water cannon as you passed him.

100' is a pretty wide canal. I'm guessing the canal was more narrow than that. If it were me, I would have let Boat A have the canal and come back later to fish it.

I'd have done the same.

Eh...It's narrow enough that if you were in the middle you could fish both sides. 33yds isn't too much.
