Google Images No Longer Does Preview

I am tech-nically illiterate. This is the best way I can explain my problem: In the past, when I searched something on Google Images, I could click any particular image, and it would enlarge the image (without opening the site where the image is found). It would basically preview the image. Now, when I search, it brings up a bunch of small images (similar to before), except when I click on the image, it opens the website where the image is located. I then have to search the page to find the image I was looking for. Some of these sites are filled with pages upon pages of words and other images, making it impossible to find the one I'm looking for.

Is there any way to restore this "preview" feature? It was so much more convenient. It's useful for when I Google Image search and find the print in an image to be too small to read. Now, instead of just getting the preview, I have to search a whole webpage to find what I'm looking for.

I hope this makes sense, and I hope it's an appropriate question for the Tech Board. I've never visited here before. TIA.

ETA: And, FWIW, I tried googling a solution to this problem (ironically), and found nothing. I haven't made any changes to my search/results settings.

Does the search results page look the same, or does it look more stripped down? If it looks different, you might be on the 'basic' version. Scroll to the bottom of the page and click standard version.

In case that's not the problem, what browser are you using?

I believe this is the issue. At work we have an old version of IE that we are forced to use and Google images shows up exactly how he described on the site now. I think that change was a few months ago though.

My guess is that if you update your browser or use a different one, that will solve your issues.

You're right. I'll just use a different browser from now on. Thanks for the help, guys!
