A few weeks ago, Chavis said he knew this defense was going to be special...

Remember that? It was in an interview. The really amazing thing is that it seems that the coaches are surprised by how bad we are on both sides of the ball. So, the people getting paid millions of dollars as experts did not see this coming?
When they compare the 2011 defense to this broken sieve and when they compare the 2013 offense to this sputtering wreck, how can they be surprised and NOT have known that this would be the outcome?
I have lost a lot of confidence in Chavis. How did he not know?
(Yes, I know. I am complaining after writing the post earlier about not complaining. But, I had not seen this covered and the question popped up in my mind. Sorry.).

They are special... it's just not the special we wanted.

It has been covered I'm sure somewhere on here. I get it why say it when all you have seen them go against is each other? Are maybe they are just trying to build confidence I don't know.

they know it well before the season...they just don't acknowledge it, as they are salesmen and their job is to sell tickets...and you don't do that by saying how bad the team will be during the offseason...
the other reason is also a simple one...as a coach, you are not only trying to improve the skill of the players, but also boost their self confidence...you certainly don't do that by acknowledging weaknesses publicly...

Yeah, it does seem like I remember a thread now a week or two ago. I didn't read it and don't know what it said. Anyway, there isn't a thread tonight about it.
You kind of hope that at least the coaches KNOW that you are going to stink, even if they can't do anything about it. If they are shocked, you kind of wonder what they know more than the average fan. Add in the Welter/Beckwith fiasco and the situation gets even more confusing.

Miles came out and said Frank Herron was turning heads and Fournette was running all over our D.

Yeah, but you don't have to go out and say that they are great. It just seems like you might want to be quiet.

What time span was he speaking of? He may need to rethink that statement. Too early to know.

Losing Dwayne Thomas really hurt. He is a playmaker.

I could see Fournette running all over them.

Yeah, they said that Fournette could not be stopped. Now we know why.

Our defense is an embarrassment right now. Teams haven't feared us since 2011.

Looking back, I think that was a correct assessment, and now we know why...

Maybe I'm being too hard on them. They work hard. They're just kids.
Life moves on.
