I'm sitting here at work (large engineering firm), and I couldn't help but notice this. Seems that anyone with a tattoo holds a lower paying/non essential position, and all the important positions are filled by those without one.

Is this because tattoos are unprofessional/trashy, or just coincidence?

I have 3 tattoos.

I guess I'll just go panhandle right now.

It is because people who are competent and professional do not have tattoos (or at least visible ones).

Or most people with visible tattoos were already not on a path to succeed.

just coincidence

if the guys with the ink brought in a Master Service Agreement with 7-figures of annual fees, he would be up the ladder in a heartbeat

One is close, but not really. I wear long sleeves mostly, though.

i can tell you 90% of the trash in the oilfield has tattoos, while those who move up the ladder, are the 10% who do not
