Is that what passed over about 25 minutes ago? South to north?

I did. Seemed higher than the predicted 39 degrees above the horizon, too.

Yep, that was it.

There should be an Iridium flare at 8:38 tonight NNE 15 degrees, 26 degrees above the horizon.

I have the ISS detector app and it's great if you like this stuff.

Hopefully some of you caught the flare, it was one of the brightest I've seen in years.

ISS flyover at 9:11 pm too. Beginning in the western sky and going right overhead.

Edit. Not right overhead. Off in the western sky

A satellite flare is when a satellite that has big reflective panels (think solar panels) reflects sunlight off the panels and directly onto you. You can see satellites of all kinds from all over the place and from many different angles for a couple of hours before sunrise and after sunset because they diffusely reflect sunlight back to large portions of the nighttime side. On these satellites with big shiny panels(the Iridum satellites are a prime example), there is a very small path over which the light from the highly reflective panels can be seen and if you're in this path at the right time, the satellite appears to greatly increase in brightness as the highly reflected beam of light passes over you.

Nope, it never had ISIS, but it did look like it if you just glanced.

Wow I think I just saw it. Thanks for the heads up. That was pretty cool. Downloaded an app and it started to beep indicating I should be able to see it and sure enough it was a faint looking star going across the sky.
