Question for Football gurus regarding struggling o-line

If I know, I have a poor offensive line and a QB that can scramble but not throw so well, I would design an offense that runs out of a spread formation. That way at least force the defense to cover the width of the field with 3 WR and two running backs and not place 8-9 in the box.
